Hin I'm having some problems with my washer. I have a Maytag wringer washer that's been stored in the shed for 25 years or so. I brought it in last night, wiped it out and plugged it in, it works. I unplugged it, filled it with water, got my rinse tubs setup and started washing, no problems. Then after several loads of laundry I got a shirt and sock wrapped up around the lower wringer arm. It jammed, I hit the thing, the red piece that says "push to release" and the power popped and went off. I unplugged it, lights came back on. I mean it killed everything in the outlet, dehumidifier, air conditioner, light, and the washer. I still couldn't get it unwrapped, plus it smelled burnt. I had to wake my DH up and have him come unwrap it for me, then I had to quit for the night cause the cord was a bit frayed and he was upset that I'd used it after I knew the cord was frayed. Next morning he has the wringer arm pulled apart and I don't know where the pieces go. He puts it back together the way he thinks it should go but I'm not so sure. I noticed the lower arm wasn't all the way in, so I thought I'd fix it myself. Uh, yeah, now I really can't get the top down and I still don't know where the plastic piece goes. Can anyone help? I have a nice "energy efficient he type" washer but it's filter got plugged and now it won't dump water out. Long story and now all the dry but dirty clothes that were in baskets and hampers are ALL WET AND BASEMENT SMELLING and getting worse by the day, going on day 3...
(The Maytag repair man won't be able to come til Wednesday.)

it might help you get an answer for where this "plastic piece" goes, if you post a picture of the "plastic piece".
that way, members can see what plastic piece you are talking about. there's no description of the "plastic piece".
and with a picture of this "plastic piece", members can see exactly what piece you are talking about.

there have been a few members who have rebuilt wringer washers and would know what "plastic piece" you are talking about, if they seen a picture of it.

as for me, i have never rebuilt or refurbished a wringer washer and i'm not very mechanical. so i have no clue as to what any of the parts or pieces are, for a wringer washer. sorry i can't answer your question about where that "plastic piece" goes. :o(

maybe the members who are familiar with the wringer washers, might know what piece you are talking about. but i am clueless.

i just wanted to let you know, that if you posted a picture of the plastic piece you are talking about, you might get an answer quicker.

i can imagine your excitement to use the wringer washer, when you first cleaned it up. i'm sorry that the wringer washer ended up messing with the power of the whole house though!!! i hope you can get your wringer up & running smoothly real soon!!!

fingers crossed for you........

;o)

Without a picture it's hard to tell

But it might be the Nylon bearing. Look on Ebay under Maytag Wringer washers. There's a nylon bearing for sale and he shows where it goes. I took my upper and lower rollers apart once and this is the only plastic part I recalled. Remember the lower roller drives and has to match up the connecting gear and and the upper roller moves freely.
