Wes (elginkid) and I were discussing the 1963 kitchen he is helping a client remodel. The kitchen had a built in washer and dryer under the countertop. You can see part of it in picture 3 in his thread in the super forum (sadly, my iPad won't let me copy the picture uploaded with the new phot uploaded). I was thinking Westinghouse spacemates, similar to Travis' set pictured. Could it have been anything else?

Is there a washer on the other side of this dryer next to the sink?

Might have been Westinghouse if they were side by side units.

From what I understand, yes, they are right beside each other.

Bendix ever made undercounter units, so I bet it was Westinghouse!

1950's or 1960's Laundry For Older House.

Well, I was either thinking maybe Westinghouse also, but the 1964's in the picture below.

Those, or that 1950's GE Washer/Dryer Combo pictured on the bottom right.

I spy a Frigidaire dishwasher to the left of the sink, too...

1963 Under-Counter W&D

Most likely would have been a WH pair, Bendix and GE made UC combos also. 63-64 was the transitional year for WH on its Space-Mates, they went from the orignal 25" wide units to the 27" wide machines. The picture shows a post 1998 Frigidaire built dryer, these were still about the same machines as the 64 and on WHs.

Seems like that first W&D pair made it to POD, though in the form of the Compact Front-Load Stack (or Compact Side by Side) as well as the full-sized pair; descendants of the Slant Front machines...

My, how things have come along...!
