It just floors me that members continue to find hidden gems with similar stories of spouse wars on putting machines into service. I thought we should create this centralized thread to list the new-in-box finds that have amazed us through the years. So, if you have been one of the lucky ones to acquire a brand new gift from the past, please report it here so we can all marvel again!

but unused, uninstalled and almost forgotten for 52 years was the crown jewel in my collection: the 1956 GE Wonder Kitchen and LW11 wall refrigerator that I found in Texas on this very site! I learned the hard way that 52 years of storage can actually be tougher on appliances than regular use when I started getting them ready for installation however.
Now, 5 years later, the whole unit is still looking and working fine (including, at last, the washer-dryer combo!!) |

I didn't get anything new in box but yesterday, I got the box in which one of my 1978 Frigidaire microwave ovens used to be (two years after I got the microwave oven!) as well as a food waste disposer that's well used in it's original box box. In fact, the box is OK but not the disposer... So I'm still searching for a Frigidaire disposer that works!

I used to live in a warehouse-style apartment in the downtown area of my little village. Walking past the appliance store across the street, I spied a 1959 Lady Kenmore laundry pair in yellow with suds-saver waiting to be hauled away. The electric dryer had obviously been used, but the washer appeared to have never been hooked up. Pristine hoses and owner's manual still in tub, etc. Original bulbs for console, tub, and ultraviolet sanitizing. (And by the way, that ultraviolet bulb made the white suds pop like a backlight poster! It was trippy and awesome.)
I grabbed an appliance mover, took them home and hooked up the washer. It worked! The rapid advance timer needed lubricating, as the trademark clickety-clacking of the cycle set-up was sluggish. Couldn't use the dryer, as I had only gas hookup. Kept and used the washer for about a year, then gave it to a nice young Hispanic couple who had a baby on the way and needed a washer and dryer. This was several years before I discovered AW. Ask me how many times I've kicked myself. Just ask me. Thanks to Mr. Modtomic for the Google-searched photo. The Lady is pretty in pink, too.

It was a beautiful Maytag and a Apex wringer and a avocado Roto Rack that did not work lol. That is one heck of beautiful Kenmore Mr. Darren k |
