Please take this for what it's worth to you, & don't shoot the messenger... Info on this machine that's been scarce so far, & I wanted to get it out there to share. I've been looking at the new Oasis w/high hopes as a more reliable alternative to FL's. I spoke to a freind of a friend who has sold appliances for Sears for many years(and still is) to get his advice on this new model... he emphatically said NO, don't buy it. He mentioned it being a rehashed version of old technology that didn't work then, a skimpy 1/2 horsepower motor working that heavy load of laundry & water, & said two of his trusted service techs that had over 40 years of service between them laughed at the promo claims & said they would be funding their next vacation w/the service calls they would get from this new machine... aghh!! Anyway... again, take it for what it's worth as one man's opnion. Time will tell. Looks like I'm back to square one... He recommended the HE2 or HE3... anyone have any info on the performance/relability of these machines?

Re: Alternative Washer:

Hi! bradlyl, if you don't need quite as large of Capacity, the HE-2 is the Washer that I would choose. It is listed as a "Best-Buy" on the Consumer Reports and actually does have a pretty good size Capacity to it anyway. Unless you've got the extra $$$ to go with the HE-3, or HE-4 even, othewise I would go with the HE-2 Washer. Are you getting a Matched Dryer as well and wanting to possibly at some time to Stack the Dryer on top of the Washer? This is certainly something to think about these days, about "what-if" you might either Move or Remodel and might end up with either limited space or want to Stack for an additional Storage are next to the Washer and Dryer.

There's my 2-Cents worth, good luck with you decision, let us know what you end up with.

Peace and Happy Laundry Cleaning, Steve

The person to whom you spoke apparently doesn't have much direct knowledge of the Oasis. If it uses an F&P SmartDrive motor, I doubt they're even rated in HP, being as they are DC-powered and electronically-controlled. Based on my F&P toploaders, the motor is way plenty strong.

I would have to agree with DADoES. If it is true that F&P makes the motor there should be very few (if any) problems.

An F&P DC motor has plenty of power to run that machine. VEry different than a 1/2 hp AC motor.

Always a naysayer

Yes, the Oasis is a F&P on steroids. Very Kenmore, yet very F&P. The best of both worlds.

Built like a brick 5h!7 h0u53

That's 1337 speak for it's built like a tank. It has a porcelain top and a glass window. Feels so smooth and classic compared to the F&P (which was my dream machine until Oasis)

Does the Oasis use a DC motor? I know about the F&P using the DC, but I haven't heard it is the same thing in the Oasis. Anyone have a confirmation on that?

Looks to me a whole lot like an F&P SmartDrive motor.

This should be quite a reliable washer. Yay.
