Hello Guys!! My name is Todd. I live in Davenport, Iowa. I have been following the threads of this website for a few years now and have lived vicariously through your awesome conversations! Have loved the pics too! I have had an interest in KitchenAid dishwashers ever since I was in kindergarten. I was born in 1970. I am currently living in the home of my aunt who has since passed. The dishwasher that has been in her home since 1968 is the KitchenAid dishwasher-sink model KDS-16. She didn't use it very often (except when I'd come to visit...ha!)and when she would have her bridge game parties or the family reunion get-togethers. It still works beautifully and is in mint condition. I cleans better than my Mom's Custom KDC-18 which has the middle wash arm. I have collected brochures throughout the years! I also have the use and care manuals as well as the servicing manuals. I am excited to have joined the group. Many of you also seem to have an interest in dishwashers as well! Here is the picture of my dishwasher.

The dishwasher-sink model is a KDS-36 (without the Soak Cycle) however it is actually a 16 series model.

Davenport Iowa is where I first saw Frigidaire jet action washers when we were on a family vacation in 1973 and had to stop at a laundromat. Most people think it is a drag to wash on vacation but I was young at the time and never saw a Frigidaire washer before! They were in turquoise too! Your dishwasher looks like the one my sister has from 1968, it still runs perfectly!. Nep

Sweet! And welcome to the group!

Is it really pink, or is it just the lighting?

Beautiful dishwasher/sink combo - I love the wire cutlery basket! I believe the combo units were available into the 18 series, not sure after that. Welcome to the group - we're getting enough people within driving distance for a good sized wash-in!

This dishwasher sink combo is all white. The porcelain top is near mint as well. I like to keep it shiny. My entire house is very 50's-60's. The kitchen has all birch cabinets with chrome handles---which I love! I would like to actually have a cabinet made to match my birch cabinets for the sink area and just keep the dishwasher. I replaced my 1968 coppertone brown Nutone range hood with a 1960 Nutone stainless steel range hood. The dishwasher-sink models (I believe) were started with the 15 series and went through the KD-20 Energy Saver V series. At least they appear for those models in my sales brochures. I have 8 dishwashers in my basement. The models are: KDS-15 Superba Vari-cycle, KDS-17a, KDI-17, KDC-17, KDS-18, KDI-18, and in the Energy Saver V series: KDS-20 and the Patrician KDP-20. The only series that I have a complete set for built-in models is the 17 series. I would love to find a KDI-15 Imperial Dua-cycle and the KDI-20 and KDC-20 to complete the Energy Saver V collection.

I have found some of my machines by driving behind appliance stores here in the Quad Cities and getting the units waiting to be hauled to the dump. Many of them needed only minor repairs and a couple of them were still in working condition.

My KDC-17 model (which I just love for that 70's look) was one that I found by accident. I saw it during an open house with a realtor, waited for the people to move in, asked them if they were going to be replacing it. The woman agreed to take my name and number and call me down the road. 2 years later....she called one day and said they were getting a new one. (The only thing wrong with it was that there was a foreign object in the drain valve preventing it from sealing....easy fix!) I have pictures of all my machines if you care to see them. I just post them on a website so you can see them at a glance. I will do this and provide the link in the next couple of days.

I also have several Amana Radarange units which I collect, and a 1950's General Electric television which belonged to my uncle and his first wife (has been in the basement since the home was purchased in 1968.)

Welcome aboard! KA dishwashers from those eras are such fun, and to have the sink model too!

You'll have to talk to the other Iowa members or find their threads, as they are Radarange enthusiasts too! Microwaves traditionally were never that exciting to me, but to see the interesting vintage ones compared to what is out there now is a lot of fun!
