I had the same exact model installed in my apt in 1985 shortly after I moved in. It cleaned decently but not the greatest. I had it for 14 years and shortly before I moved I heard GE had a recall on these models because of the energy switch and they stated possible fire issue. One thing I didnt like about the unit was the detergent dispenser and it made a loud snapping sound when it opened. It still is better than what they make today. I remember wishing that I had the 1200 series model!

I've seen a couple. That heat/no heat slider would melt and catch fire. One fix GE was fond of doing was sending out a tech who would either wire past the switch to make it a permanently heated dry or cap it off and make it no heat. The slider would just stay there as a dead stick, just to fill the hole. I think that fix was geared at the rental/apartment owners as these were very popular in complexes.
