A bit of a plea really. Does anybody know where I can find a carbon faced drum bearing seal alone for a timeline Hoover Logic A3586 from 1987? I have a bearing kit but no seal. The seal that came off the machine is marked: 'titan te-4' on the reverse. Can anyone help? I have had several companies send me the smaller titan te2 seals that are also carbon faced...

Hi Rob,

The bearing kit for your machine is part number 09048471. This is supposed to come with the seal. It is officially discontinued, but is still available at www.apart4u.co.uk/parts/09048471/... and www.electricalsales.co.uk/product.... There are also a few individual seals here: www.unifit.co.uk/powersearch.phpQ...

Failing that, you could always ask at ukwhitegoods.org.uk. I'm sure some of the engineers on there are familiar with older Hoover machines.

Google is my friend too :)

Cheers for this information Tom - I already have an old bearing kit, which is fitted, but the bearing seal is u/s - it's just the seal I need.

Although it has been discontinued, I am sounding out whether, or not, any members on here have one that is not needed anymore that I can buy. I don't really see the need to obtain a complete bearing kit if that's the case.

I take it you are referring to the part that rotates with the drum spider? If the face itself is OK but the seal is loose you can sometimes stick them back on with epoxy glue or something.

re, fido

no, it's the counterface that's attached to the spider. The actual seal, which contains a carbon circular section that butts against it, has failed; so it's the actual seal assembly that I need, which goes into the backplate.
