There was an old thread on here about a Beko washing machine not rinsing properly and I wondered if it was due to the way the drain hose was positioned? My Bosch and I know Miele have the grey drain hose coming out at the top or left hand side of the cabinet. I wonder if the pumps are not powerful enough to pump away the suds so a little gets left behind? I've only seen this happen on Miele or newer Bosch.

To the original poster regarding the Beko did you find a resolution to your poor rinsing?

Hi,

It was me who posted that about Beko. The reason I felt the Beko doesn't rinse well is because it doesn't take enough water on rinses. It seems to have a timed fill and it stops and that and had never topped up. I really dislike it.

The hose coming out of the top of the cabinet at the back is not something new or just on Miele or Bosch! My parents Zanussi Jetsystem purchased in 2012 has it at the top.

German machines for as long as I can remember have always had the outlet hose at the top. I've used machines from the 80s up until now and recall AEG, Bosch, Miele have always had the hose coming out of the top. Beko seems to adopt this design too. I much prefer it like that to be honest. h

The bekos as aeg03 said do a timed fill which on the basic ones is a low level rinse and no top up makes for a bad rinse, the higher end models static fill up the door and then tumble soaking up the load.

Bosch washing machines used to be poor rinsing from 98-2005 because there standard cycles used as little as 39 litres. Thankfully they are around 45litres now. The synthetic cycles take in more. If you have rinse plus or aqua plus then you may need to use that.

My new massive Bosch rinses well due to the paddle design.

I don't remember older German machines (AEG, Bosch) that I've used having the hoses at the top, I remember them as being at the bottom. Same with older Zanussi machines too.

Saying that, though, I couldn't tell you where the drain hose comes out on my current machine... :)

@ NewWave1 I always press the aqua plus button and find it is better on Easy Care but I paid £299.99 for mine so I guess its not a great model. I bought it in 2010 or 2011 can't remember but its Woollen cycle is rubbish. What's the model number of your Bosch? Do you also have any videos of the rinses? I'm in Colchester and water here is hard but detergents foam up too well for my liking here. I may get an engineer to look at Pump because it doesn't make that chugging sound when in operation which makes me think its not fully functioning. Its insured so I hope an engineer is not going to charge me if he/she found it to function how it should. Gave it a maintenance wash with Dr Beckmann 4 days ago and I keep it in pristine condition!

Video of drain pump in action

The drain pump doesn't sound right to me. How do I upload a video?

We had a Beko Excellence 1400 for a while - that was one of the best rinsing modern washers I've ever used. We now have the Miele plumbed in and, as it has since day 1, always rinses clear. I usually put heavy items like towels and jeans through the spinner to get them as dry as possible before going in the dryer, and the water extracted from that is always clear.

Beko cottons rinse level. The Eco-cottons rinse level was abysmal but the standard cottons one was fab

dascot,

German machines always had the hose coming out at the top. I have attached a photo of my 2002 - 2002 isn't really an old machine.

I saw a post regarding a Bauknecht machine with a diagram of the outlet pipe. Shame I cant read Dutch. Its around 8 posts down.

newwave1,

We have a Beko WMB5100W in the flat share that I have and I absolutely hate it. It seems to take enough water for the washes but the rinses are a joke. It tumbles whilst it fills yes, but water is never visible during the rinses and I hate filling it up to full capacity.

The tumbles in the rinse stage are short and frequent. Its only ever left powder on the clothes when I overfilled with bedding and a pillow or duvet - same thing I've had with other machines. The best machine I ever had for rinsing was the AEG OKO Lavamat 72640 that I had in 2002 with its SPIN - RINSES, it used to drive all that water through the load to get rid of the detergent. Still using such little water, I think even less than the Beko but it had a bigger drum and Jetsystem. The other machine that seemed to be ok with rinsing was the Zanussi Jetsystem ZWH7122J that I purchased in 2012, though it lacked Spin Rinsing, it seemed to use a fair bit of water on the rinses, along with the Jetsystem. The washes were first class, it always topped up at least once and most of the time twice. Could always hear plenty of water sloshing about in the drum but I wasn't a fan of the static fills, but got used to it.

I would happily chuck out the Beko and tell the landlord I have done so, but I only plan to be at the flat for another year before I plan to move out and buy my own place so no real point in spending the money on a machine that I wont be able to take with me.

Interesting - I remember instructions being very clear that the drain had to come up to a certain height above floor to avoid syphoning back. Can't think why it would have needed that if the pipes had been at the top.

This is the translation of the Dutch text under the diagram:

Protection for unwanted emptying:

Because of the nifty placement of the drainpipe in the machine, it can't empty unwanted, not even when the drainpipe would end up on the floor by accident.

If you want to share a video here, click on "Share" under the video. You will see another "Share" a bit lower. It contains a link. Click on that link so it will highlight.

If it is highlighted, you can do two things:

1. Click right with your mouse while you have your mouse on the highlighted link. It will say "Copy", click on that.

OR:

2. Press the buttons "ctrl" and "c" at the same time.

The copied link is now in your memory.

Then go to the message here where you want to post your Youtube video in ("Post text"). Again two options:

1. Click right with your mouse again, one of the options is "Paste". Click on that. The link will show up.

OR:

2. Click with your mouse in the spot where you want to post the link. Press the buttons "ctrl" and "v" at the same time. The will will show up.

You can finish your text and post your message. The video will be shown in your message if you have posted the link in the "Post text" window. If you post it in "URL Link to share" it will only show the link to the video on Youtube.

I hope this helps.

Foraloysius, It's a good idea of the hose being connected at the top. I always had the hose going across and down to the side on my machines that have the hose coming out at the top due to the way the outlet pipe is located.
