I'm a bit late posting, but I got the '06 PowerClean installed at the in-laws with no problems at all. Only had to replace the rigid copper tubing with a new braided water supply hose. All else was gravy. They've been amazed since the install. Mike (my father-in-law) said he thinks there's a super quiet jet engine or something the way it makes every speck of food disappear.
Now, the KA Custom 21 is sitting in their garage awaiting my word as to whether we: A) Post/sell it on Craigslist, B) try to find the parts it needs to restore it, C) dismount the parts that do work and try to sell them instead, or D) take it out to the road, AKA "the magic curb" as they call it, for a scavenger to collect.
It's a beautiful machine, and it ran once to twice a day in a house of two adults and four kids plus friends. The heating element is shot, hence their excitement for "anything that will at least halfway wash the dishes" as with no heated boosting, it was basically washing with cold water. The safety switch is also jammed, and the access panel won't stay on. They said it also was getting to the point of either not wanting to run when a cycle was selected, or starting over once it reached the end.
The first three photos are of the PC, the rest are the KitchenAid.
I've already looked up parts, and they'd either be super difficult to find, or very expensive, so I'm not too sure what to do. I've gotten my fill of restoration work in to last me a while, and I also just don't have space for it right now in a small house, as I already have a dishwasher stored in a closet, of all places. If anyone has advice or opinions on what should be done with it, I'm all ears!
*I'm also posting this in Imperial, without the PC, so it aligns with the 20+ year guidelines. |
