Wow, very cool!!! And with a recirculating filter no less!

It looks like a circa-1983 model to me, with the silver/black control panel.

Looks a lot like the machine I used from 1985 to 1997. Then I gave it away (big mistake).

Interesting machine. 18-pounder, winged Surgilator, recirculating filter, variable water level, 3 temps. Would like to know the model #.

I'll get the model #, plus photos and videos for you after easter weekend.

house cleaning

That thing looks GROSS~
How about cleaning up around the hinges and tub opening before the photo next time?!? That's an absolutely nauseating view. I wouldn't want anything of mine near such a filthy gross machine as that. I can smell the stink from here.

And, is that really considered a vintage collectible at all? Seriously? It's about as common as hens eggs.

But thanks for sharing, and remember, all opinions are valid.

What's gross? The little bit o'dirt around the hinges, and on top of the tub? That ain't nuttin',you should see some of the ones I get as trade ins from a dealer. You probably wouldn't want to come anywhere NEAR some of them,if you think this one is nasty!
That washer pictured looks like a fine example of a workin 'pool to me!Excellent!

Jason, does a person named Helen own the washer, or is that the name you've bestowed upon the washer? It's a very nice machine indeed. A house I lived in had a standard capacity one with a recirculating filter like that. It was great.

In NYC washers sometimes reside next to the stove.
They can look like they have been shat upon, especially the sides.

Scott, Helen is Jason's girlfriend's name.

Bob, yes all opinions are valid, glad we know exactly how you feel.

And BTW, if these machines are as common as hen's eggs, start saving them and sending them down here cuz there are a few in the south who would not mind having one of these at all.

Thank you, Bob. Congrats Jason! After Bob pointed that out, I went back to that thread in the other section and brought myself up to date on current events.

Sounds like you and Bri are remaining friends too, which is a nice thing.

I'm glad you're meeting nice people. I always said you had a lot to offer as a person.

personal attack

Jesus! All I did was offer a less than popular opinion about a machine, and that won me a personal attack.

Thanks a whole lot for that, Jason. You've gained a huge amount of respect from me by doing that. NOT.

Bob,

Yes you offered your opinion, but it was a rude and insensitive opinion. Why the need to rain on Jason's parade?

I was able to look past the grime (I've seen worse) and took some joy in that the model was so similar to one that I miss dearly (mine was almond). These are nice belt drive wig wag washers and they're not as common as later direct drive models which aren't half as good.

Well, I apologize to everyone and Imperial Bob as well for snapping back at him.

That washer isn't a minty vintage washer, it's a daily driver. BUT those common (not around here though) Whirlpools can donate their parts to a more vintage KM/WP machine. Just like Austin's Frankenmore. Yeah, it looks weird seeing a 80s Whirlpool under the hood but with the old top you get Wash'n'Wear with fill/agitation.

Nice to see these latter day belt drive washers. Dont see them much anymore around here. The outer tub was a bit of a problem on those years, similar to the GE outer tub problems. Its great to see a nice one like this still working and washing. Loved the pics, and didnt mind the patina around the lid. It gives it that well used look! thanks for posting the pics.......

apology

I am apologizing for the comment I made. It wasn't that far off base, and not everybody has nice things to say about everything all the time. That's just life, but I apologize anyway if it upset anyone.

I have apologized to a number of people privately, and others were incredibly rude to me - absolutely outrageously rude to me. I suppose that too is life.

Now, I'd just like to say to Jason I accept your apology - but I am no longer Imperial Bob, remember - I'm now
Bobofhollywood.

Thanks & Peace.

Bob
