Can anyone put a date on when this Hotpoint/Electra 17051 would have been manufactured.

I remember some friends of mine had the washer version of this but it had the pop out control knob and that was back in the early 90s. I think this is a later version so I'm guessing around 1995

Hi Craig.

Machine looks great - so that's a Creda Electra and a Hotpoint Electra you now have! Fantastic machines.

I have a copy of Servicing Information Issue 2 dated January 1994, which details the following models:

17039 based on 9546P manufactured for Currys
17043E based on 9537P manufactured for Creda
17044E based on 9546P manufactured for Creda
17045 based on 9536W manufactured for Currys
17047E based on 9546P manufactured for Currys
17048 based on 9536P manufactured for Rumbelows
17049 based on 9546P manufactured for Rumbelows
17051 based on 9546P manufactured for Electra
17052 based on 9546P manufactured for Electra
17053E based on 9546P manufactured for Electra
17060 based on 9527PE - export variant
17061E based on 9538PE - export variant
17062E based on 9547PE - export variant

Manufacture of the above commenced during July 1993, but unlikely to be all at once and there are no exact introduction dates unfortunately.

Just been gendering at the pages of 1995 KAYS Catalogue and during that year Creda changed fascia style to the Eco Save rocker switches style.
Sooooooo, after all that waffle, I agree with the Steve and Neil and will say your machine was built between mid 1993 to early 95.

Paul :-)

Thank you all for your feed back.

I was confused regarding the different timer control, drum & drum seal on this model. I got the impression it was a bit older, but i do love everything about it.

It performs much like your much older Hotpoint 95620 Paul.

Different drum & door seal to the 95 series Hotpoints

So this dark mercury grey Hotpoint/Electra design must have had a long production run considering my Creda built Washer was manufactured way back in 1991.

We had the white 2 dial version, bought from YEB in 1993. I'm pretty certain ours was a Hotpoint made one. It certainly had Hotpoint's reputable reliability and was written off after 2 years.

looks nice, so now optima you have 2 of them, a Creda & a Hotpoint version, same exterior although they are entirely different underneath :)

I've got a very similar Electra 1150 (model 17018G) which I bought new in March 1993. The major difference I can see here is the hinge. I know this because I've spent the morning taking the bits of the broken hinge off (non-captive nuts on the *inside*) and its a simple plastic shell hinge with a hinge pin.

I've ordered a new hinge from an online spares company, but they're not sure how long it will take to arrive. I don't hold out much hope.

The machine has been working fine for the past 21 years, except it does sound like a jet engine taking off and the dispenser seems to have warped in the heat.

I'm pretty sure its time to replace it - anyone want it? Otherwise it might go to the local Lancaster "Bulky Matters" charity who refurb and sell-on to deserving cases.

Optima, is the 17051 the anti-clockwise spinning Electra, I remember seeing one in your YouTube video but cannot remember the model.

I think I also prefer the Hotpoint version too, as it spins very much similar to a 95 Series :)

Brandon.

Ah ok, so it's the Creda made one. It's got quite an interesting spin sequence, like it goes up in little pulses, kind of reminds me of the old Servis Quartz style spin, cannot remember its technical name, but nonetheless another classic washer been preserved.

I would just love to stack them in the kitchen Chris but the larder cupboard is only 500mm wide.
