Discussed in thread #55955--Sort of a sneak peak.

Watching the video again, I too notice she has another washer in her basement--a Maytag.  Hmmmmm

Sylvia's getting famous 'round here...

That's actually the 3rd post about her. I was first, than washman and than you!
I'm getting flashbacks to the WaterWall threads...

Sorry folks,

I didn't realize this, and next time BEN, use a catchier headline and maybe you'll get my attention!!! LOL, just kidding, BTW WHY does she have a Maytag in the basement as well? For a minute I thought maybe it was a shared tenant basement, and she did not have a dryer next to the Marathon washer, but anyway I like the look of the new washers, hope they are as flexible as the mechanical AWN542

I most certainly will

Gosh, this is really exciting in a way. I mean when was the last time we all held our breath, awaiting the rollout of the new, improved, ________ washer? This really has me jazzed up.

Since I don't have the funds, room, time, or in depth technical experience, I have to relegate myself to experimentation with detergents. Frig took over the PODS end so I go the other direction and try different powders from time to time. And since laundry is never a drama with a Speed Queen, I have to seek other avenues for excitement these days.

Feeling like an old maid................

The Calypso.  It was showcased on a segment on CNN on a Saturday afternoon.  We all watched waiting for the news segment.

There are more than enough drama queens in the world already.,

As cool as this is that they gave her a new set, why would she want to give up her old one with it being as good of condition it's in and that it's still running good?

Fun Washers

I agree with several others the most fun TL washer in the last 30 years is the Calypso, the only other machine I like watching more is one of my combos, like a 29" Kenmore.

why do they say that speed queen is world wide?

pierreandreply4's profile picture
Why do speed queen say they sell worldwide they do not even sell under there own name in the province of quebec and model awn542 do not even sell in the canada quebec region the model they sell is the hubesch zwn432 but love that new electronic control look in the video

The Speed-Queen brand itself is not sold in Canada, as you mention, Pierre, but models manufactured by them are. Therefore, they are merely badge-engineering products for the respective markets they serve.

I can only assume some of this has to do with past companies operating in some countries that held the rights to 'Speed-Queen,' Huebsch etc.

It'd be funny if they asked her what she used the most and she said the washboard in the sink.

I wonder what the old dryer was?

She states she washes 5 loads per week, but doesn't say they're all washed in the Speed Queen. Will Sylvia pop up in a Maytag video featuring the washer that can be glimpsed at 1:27 in the video?

SQ Dryer

The old dryer was the match to the SQ washer (if you are referring to the test set)

( Or at least I thought so... )

few comments

appnut - haha

pierreandreply4 - true. We don't have Speed Queen on sale here in the UK (may have seen one on a specialist commercial equipment website). I think we have Huebsch, but it is not mainstream in any way, shape or form.
