From the ad:

"I recently moved and cant fit in new basement. 1971 lady kenmore set in great condition, no rust. Dryer works fine, installed new belt last month. One issue with washer, needs new bushing on hot water line, should be an easy cheap fix. Cold wash works fine. Need gone by this Sat 9/19.
Dryer is gas.

Asking $75 obo

Fyi washer is pretty heavy so bring a strong friend."

Isn't that newer than 1971?  1974, maybe?

Hmmm another mysterious vintage set popping up in the Milwaukee area. Nice set, but those Penta-Swirl agitators are pretty useless. Didn't see much turnover when I had my set.

Definitely a 1974 LK set - NOT 1971.

1974 was the first year for both the large capacity tub and the Penta Swirl agitator.

It helps when you don't over load it.  tongue-out  During my April 2012 Big Spring Wash-In, Robert (unimatic1140), Greg (gansky1) and Jon (jetcone) were all quite surprised by the amount of roll-over this agitator produced, all saying it was much better than they expected.

Turnover

I have the 1974 TOL Kenmore, but it's no Lady. Extra large capacity, this exact same Penta-Swirl, and I get great turnover. I didn't expect it when I first saw the agitator, but I can do full loads on the top water level and I get fine results.

I have always been awestruck by just how refined these machines were engineered. Running with whisper quiet perfection. Sure hope you can take a detailed video of them in operation.

Jeff, I'm glad you got them! They seem to be very clean! And with a suds saver, you can't ask for more!

Did you get my response to your email?

CONGRATS Jeff on scooping these up, they look to be in exceptional condition!

What an interesting suds saver valve / external hose arrangement!

Do all the KM suds saver models in the early 70's have this external suds valve / hose connection like this?

Suds saver arrangement

On the large capacity models the suds valve was repositioned due to the lowered base plate and the subsequent lack of clearance to the floor (as well as the relative position of the valve to its related components)
