I restored a Maytag washer for my Mom about three years ago or so. I'm sure a lot of you guys remember it. It was that long drawn out post. Well now I'm here at my Mom's house and I'm finally doing the dryer. I've been working on it since Monday and I finally got it done and installed today. She washed some clothes, we put them in the dryer and went about cleaning the basement. After a while I asked if that was still the first load drying and she said yes. My heart sank.

I took the panel off and started to examine. The timer motor wasn't getting any power during the Auto Dry cycles. It only gets power on Air Fluff. I hooked it up to 120 and the plastic pinion turns. The metal one on the the out side point maybe turning slowly. I can't tell for sure. I haven't worked on this type of timer before and I don't have a service manual for it. Since the timer motor runs when it's hooked up to 120, is it the timer or the cycling thermostat? If anybody can help me I'd really appreciate it. It's an LDE7500ACW. I'm stuck. I can take some voltage measurements if it will help. I'll send along some pictures too.

Hey! If the timer advances at all in air fluff, then the motors likely good. I would definitely be suspicious of the cycling thermostats or a mis wire or something like that because, as you know, the cycling stats either call for heat or advance the timer motor. Make sure your venting is in good shape too! Otherwise, the high limit will cycle and not the actual cycling thermostats. If it still beats you up, give me a call and I'll help puzzle it thru!

RCD is spot on. For one reason or another the cycling stat isn't getting power to the timer motor when it should.

Thanks, Drew and Mark. You guys were on it. It was the stat acting up. And since I had to go to the parts shop I replaced the old worn out idler wheel and the felt tumbler seals too. It acts like a new one now. I think Mom will be pleased. She had a 7 or 8 year old BOL GE with no end of cycle buzzer. The buttons and snaps on clothing made a terrible racket in there. I think a strong breeze would have blown that thing away.

Thanks again.
