Have never seen one of these dryers, guessing it is "vintage"?

Located in Texas, and the seller seems nice as all get out.

I'd get it if it wasn't in such horrible shape and had the matching washer...

Who made these units?

Have to agree with you, the condition is pretty bad. Didn't let all the pics download before posting.

That is a GE design dryer. The Pencrest differed in subtle ways. Notice the handle is horizontal rather than vertical as on real GE's. My experience with all GE's is the motors were not as durable as say a whirlpool, possibly because the motors have a longer drive shaft puting more leverage on the bearings.

That's in bad shape? Looked decent to me,for a 30 year old dryer.

The idea that you could stroll into a Home Depot or Wal-Mart and pick up a replacement for that GE/Hotpoint filter is laughable! Don't see Penncrest around too much anymore, but I keep looking for one of their washers-----.

dryer condition

I've seen older dryers in better condition. Seems like a lot of rust for a dryer, almost as much as you would think a washer would have.
