It was that time of year again for a mini meeting in Welsh Wales to see Mathews (Keymatic3203) new Philips 60`s twintub and Lees latest project, the bolt down Bendix...First up was a visitation to the hallowed ground of Hoover Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.UK.
The Art Decor head office building is in use for administration, sales and marketing although no manufacturing is done here. It lies nestled among the hills and valleys of Wales up the A470 "heads of the valleys" roadway. CLICK HERE TO GO TO chestermikeuk's LINK

Lovely art deco stained glass above the main doorway, you can just see the intricate wooden staircase leading to the senior offices through it. Although we couldnt visit inside this time, I remembered what it was like on a visit for training in the 80`s.

The visit was also planned as in a dream it had been told that a visitation was due on this hallowed ground by "Our Lady of the Boiling Pulsator" a rare moment in history for humble laundresses!!
And @ 10.30 am she did not disapoint and duly appeared, all present bowed down and begged forgiveness for all thing Philips, Bendix, Servis and inferior soap powders...

Well no foam party ensued, all clothing was suitably cleaned and after hanging out the washing, which was surprisingly damp not dripping out of the Bendix, the Three Wise Men bade a fond farewell to Lee and headed back down the A470 over a by now darkening mountain range, back to Cardiff to visit the Philips Toptwin...

The Philips TopTwin, nowthen, a few members have them I believe but ther are a number of special accessory kits which are most very rare!! Gary whilst tripping over an OOvah vac in a local charity shop went headfirst into a wicker basket and nearly concussed himself on the - Drum Roll, wait for it The Philips De-Lux Accessory Kit Number 3 box.
It was a gift from The Lady herself he thought and duly presented it to an overcome Mathew.

This is all nicely put together Mike so thanks are in order :-)
it is a pity you couldn't show the Wig Wearing Philips Owner fighting with us to take it off. the speed with which that wig went on was amazing and there it stayed all day, trouble came when we suggested it might be better to take it off as food was about to be cooked.................a struggle ensued and the wig was removed.......amidst a lot of swearing, shouting and tears which made eyeliner run. Speaking of tears it was moving to see Lee,s eyes well up when he was handed the award for services to washing machines in distress :-) Altogether a fantastic weekend thanks to Mat, Lee and Mike Gary |

Evening all
It was a most enjoyable weekend, I had a bit of a disaster before the chaps arrived on Saturday morning and found myself rodding a block drainage system, we cant have all the wash water running down the street can we. I saved up lots of loads, (I think we washed one in the Liberator one in the Hoover 1100 and three in the Bendix) lots of good food and good conversation. The day went by in a flash and the "Our Lady of the Boiling Pulstor" award was a big shock, (notice in the photo no one cares about my tearful stat, here have this we are watching the Bendix) thanks for my prezzies too chaps. The SNOB preformed faultlessly, all stain free and rinsed clear on the first rinse with a pleasant sent, that 400 spin in combination with the SNOB gave great effortlessness of ironing, took two days to dry though. Sundays visit to Cardiff was great too and also passed in a flash, the Philips top twin is a fantastic machine and should be seen in the flash to appreciate it fully. We will do it again very soon. Lee |
