Well after only a few short weeks, I think the KDS-18 has taken it's last breath. When started last night, it began to fill then about 15 seconds into the first fill, I heard a loud pop and it shut down. The breaker was blown but it has no power even after resetting.

Anyway, sadly, I do not have the knowledge to troubleshoot the issue and I have to have a working dishwasher so I am having the Bosch re-installed today. If anyone is interested in the machine, I would like to see it go to a group member who can hopefully revive it. If so, please let me know, I am not looking to sell it, would just like to donate to a member rather than have it hauled away to a sure death. Overall, it is in great shape and I purchased new upper and lower racks along with a new door seal. You can see pics in my previous posts if you're interested.

Sorry to hear that. If you weren't so far away from me, I'd offer to come down and look at it, or take it away. Was there any burning smell or smoke after the loud pop? Or did you see any water underneath it when you pulled it out? My guess is that the motor died, possibly because water leaked onto it. I'm sure somebody closer to you will be more than happy to come and get it from you.

Where in Texas?

 I've scored a big fat zero in my search for a Hobart KA here at home. Beat to hell units pop up from time to time , but they're good for parts only.... if at all.

Sniff test is a good start!

 Barcoboy is on the mark! Literally, try sniffing around and see if there is something obvious that may have gone out. A leaking shaft seal would not be my first guess and based on your previous problem with the detergent dispenser, you may have shorted out one of the wires to the bi metals or maybe the bi metals themselves have shorted out. I have seen them blow holes in the door panels so check and smell everything and keep us informed.

You may also find the "smoking gun" once you start looking. If you find something that stands out, disconnect that component and try running the machine again.

I had a 23 series machine that had a pinhole leak in the bottom of the tank that would trip the breaker as soon as the heating element came on as the water was dripping down on to the connection of the element and the wire supplying it power.

The machine would run perfectly until the timer energized the element and "POP" went the breaker!

No smell or smoke

 Just a loud pop, then nothing. Since I did not have the toe/kick plate on the bottom, I was able to see under the machine and while there were no major leaks, I did always notice just a couple of drips at the beginning of the cycle which I assume was from the detergent dispenser.

I live in Dallas and still have the machine. I wish I could find somebody that would be willing to rebuild/refurbish this machine so I could put it back in service as my daily driver! I really enjoyed quick and efficient wash and dry of this beauty but for now, I'm back to a 2:30 normal wash with dishes wet at the end of the cycle! :)

 Anyone in the Dallas/Ft Worth Texas that could repair/refurbish this kids-18 for me. Sadly I am moving soon and will have to let it go if not. I would really like to get it working again.
