Hi all found another vintage appliance in Florida. a 1961 kitchen KDS14P in Turquoise works fine, But had to do a fix on drain pump. Does anyone out there have an impeller for the drain pump I glued and zip tied it together but I know that it a temp solution. here are a few pics

That is stunning! I love the 14 series! It's my favorite design-wise, but I imagine parts are tough to get for it.

WOW!!  It's beautiful!  Now, if I could only find one like that up here... Congratulations!

I don't know a lot about KA parts and servicing, but I'll bet you could use a pump from a later model - someone here will be able to say for sure.

Nice machine! I have one that Jon gave me earlier this year. I need to find a few parts for it before it's back into service. These are my favorite dishwashers (I care more about style than actual performance!).

Congratulations!

I've had mine since the early 80s. I love the sounds from the revolving Big Blue Wash Arm. I had trouble with the washing performance because the detergent in the main wash compartment of the detergent dispenser was getting partially washed out during the prewash. I tried a lot of different solutions and finally improved the performance, but the machine was not great for heavy or baked on soil. It was great for tableware right after a meal so I loaded all of the prep utensils in the 18. Surprisingly, it was better at washing the food grills from the Farberware broilers than the KDS18 because of the spray pattern of the wash arm. I would place the inverted grill on the row of supports in the middle of the lower rack then invert the stainless steel body of the broiler over it and it all got cleaned.

the only KA with the BBWA and more modern styling. The Custom model is very rare, have only seen one, but the Superbas do seem to pop up fairly regularly.

Nice looking KA!  The racks and interior look to be in really nice shape.  The drain pumps for the 14 series are shared with the 12 series machines.  Unfortunately, none of the parts from the 15-17 machines are compatible with the earlier design.  You have need to keep an eye out for another 12/14 with a pump for parts.

Good luck on getting her back into service!

Ben
