There is a local auction house where I sell some of my trade ins. Next auction is Thursday, and they will have a GE washer and electric dryer in Avocado green for sale. Washer model and serial is 1WA54004A / 1C118810D and the dryer is 1DE51001A / RC219725 Anyone have an idea when these were born? Also, they are in average to above average condition cosmetically. Working condition unknown. What would be a fair price for said units? I'll try to get a picture or 3 Monday. |

I'm not sure that your serial numbers are correct. Perhaps the "C" is really a "D"?
I found a serial number decoder for GE appliances that might help you and, of course, pictures are worth a thousand words. Here are my GE's numbers: Washer: Model# 1WA 852 D2A Serial # GD115926 Dryer: Model# 1DE 820 D1A Serial# GD204319 According to the first two letters of the serial numbers, my washer and dryer were both manufactured in April of 1968. It looks like the letter "C" was not used in serial numbers. Snap some photos and recheck those serial numbers and we will figure this thing out. CLICK HERE TO GO TO jons1077's LINK |

The suffix I pay attention to on 1WA5400A is the "A". That tells me it's a 1965 model which would be the first year Avocado would have been available. What bothers me is that extra zero in the model number. Generally shouldn't be there with a model of that vintage although there were some exceptions with odd-ball models. The pictures will help. Here's what I know about GE model numbers in a nutshell:
P=1957 R=1958 S=1959 T=1960 U DOESN'T EXIST V=1961 W=1962 X=1963 Y=1964 Z DOESN'T EXIST A=1965 B=1966 C=1967 D=1968 E=1969
In 1970 the numbers are changed to a new and different system. |

Do these pictures help? Also, the washer model is 1WA540CAA/ LC118810 Not TOL, but I'm thinking not BOL, either. If I should acquire these, is there any interest in them. I really don't have a need, but I didn't want them made into 2016 Geeley's, either. The batteries went dead in the camera, but the dryer also has a blue tub, similar to the washer. Overall, I would rate appearance as 7/10. Just a bit of rust starting on the washer top under the lid. |

I have this exact set, in white. The washer is in the laundry room lineup now but the dryer has gone on to it's next stage of existence. Probably a Kia, Geely wasn't quite ready for the influx of metal as it is now. It was a gas dryer with a standing-pilot light so the inside of the cabinet was completely corroded and rusted, except the porcelain drum. I kept the dryer panel for use on another gas model, yet to be found.
This was very nearly the set I grew up with and really enjoy the sounds of that washer running in the house. I now know better than to spin socks in the filter pan ;-) If you end up having to part out this pretty pair, let me know. I can't use another set, but it's spirit may get to live on! ?list=UUyQJSdTRgo6gZOA1md3s3fg |
