GE Hydrowave

Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with the GE Hydrowave washers?
Any thoughts/ comments would be welcome.
A good friend of mine is replacing he 33 year old GE set with them and wondered if anyone has any experience with them. Personally not a big fan of the new GE laundry products.
Thanks

Bummer...

I'm in Shanghai right now (more on that soon) and can't use Facebook or YouTube. Kind of annoying. So I'll have to wait 2 more weeks.
Could somebody describe them to me? Anything special?

I do hope that speed queen for canadien customers and the quebec region will sell in canada these electronic control models because i kind of like the idea for the topload washer and the matching dryer the fact that we can have an eco cycle since i am the kind that wash everything in cold water the only time i switch to hot is for bedding and thats it

Hey autowash. I just purchased a new GE Hyrdrowave and love it so far. It's very much like a traditional old school washer. The magnetic sensor is easy to override so you can watch the wash action. I just put the older GE FlexCare agitator on mine and it works great. The machine is quiet and cleans well. It's fun to watch wash.

i have a 2008 hydrowave-washes very well, but i have noticed the"splutch"has been developing more and more lash with use and this is the part i expect to fail first-perhaps GE has improved the durability of the splutch in the years since mine was built.

I have a GE gtwn2800 that I bought in July 2012. According to the questions and answers that I have read about this machine is is not a hydrowave model. It is the closest washer to a traditional toploader, next to a Speed Queen or a vintage toploader that can be bought. It has a very large capacity, there is no ATC, hot water is tap hot. If i use the power rinse setting, which I always do, it spins and rinses just like a traditional washer. I have had no problems what so ever during the 2 1/2 years I've used it. I have washed king size down comforters, king size bedspreads and king size pillows, 2 at a time with no problem. I has never gone out of balance, spins every time ii is supposed to and cleans excellently. I have found that the dry times are really no longer than they were when I've had machines that spun at 1000 rpm. I believe that this model compensates for the slower 640 rpm spin with a longer spin time. Even so, using the longest wash time setting, highest water level and hot water, which fills slower, the cycle completes in 50 minutes. For the price it can't be beat, and I would buy another. I do however feel guilty that it uses so much water. And it may not have the longevity of a Speed Queen, but that is yet to be determined.
