In Louisiana, no less, the land of rust... Maybe the seller could be sweet talked out of the dryer?

Somebody should e-mail the seller and give him/her some hell for it!

And there makes the price for vintage washers go way up.

And that happened to me last week. I had a response to an ad I posted. The lady had a Kenmore washer & dryer from 1972 and wanted $1,000.00 for it. She said if I didn't want it for that price, she'd put it on eBay because she saw what another set sold for and just 'knew' she could get more for it there. I wished her Good Luck!

i can see the eBay listing now

"Vintage/Rare and Antique Frigidaire dryer,a little rust, cord is cracked, door doesnt close, and cylinder doesnt turn: opening bid, $1000.00 thanks for looking!"

Right Rich, I go thru this sort of thing all the time. "I saw this on ebay so I know it worth......" OR "I saw this in an antique mall and it was priced......" OR even worse, "My neighbor told me this was worth $2000.00......."
(so then I tell them, Well then have the neighbor buy it!)
Some people are just in the dark or just plain nuts! Like the wacko group I got the Philco's from last week........

FEH!!

Off their meds is RIGHT...sorry if I sound harsh, but someone needs to keep their damn mouth SHUT and quit making ASS-umptions that every single vintage machine/set is worth $1000 or more. Rich & Jimmy are right; this is exactly why it is nearly impossible to buy a vintage automatic on eBay for a reasonable price. I think whoever is spouting that nonsense needs to be thrown into a Maytag AMP and fight those Gyratator currents. Oh, who am I kidding, they probably wouldn't last 5 seconds before getting pulled under!

Making value statements like that is far too general, especially when the questioner had no earthly idea what model of Frigidaire washer was at issue. The washer that was replaced had an owner's manual, which is also now on ebay; for the Deluxe and Super models. Not TOL, probably not a pretty pastel color and not working (I'm frankly shocked that any multimatic was working this long) and would be lucky to bring $100, let alone $1000.

How does the saying go? Couldn't find their own head if it weren't up....something like that.

I think it's "couldn't find their ass with both hands."
