Yes here we go, the ratings of 21 different automatic dishwashers, from the early 1960's!

Great article for sure.

Neat!!  Thanks for posting this Robert!!  They aren't kidding about parts for the Whirlpool FP-50B being hard to find... (ducks and runs)

Very interesting CR report. I'll still take the KDS-14, regardless of their rating it an A-. Wash performance did improve, however, with the KA 15 Series and 4WHS.

Was the Tappan the famous "paddlewheel" design?

Sure does sound that way.

When they complained that the WH took 2.5 hours for a load, they didn't realize they were seeing the future.

Thanks for the article, Robert!

I think there's a transcription error with the 16th paragraph, beginning "The pieces to be washed should be placed If the strainer screen of a dishwasher passes only small particles of food, it will require frequent cleaning"

It looks like text from the photo caption below got mixed in.

Yes, the Tappan built-in model is the dual-drench design.  Very difficult to load.

This is great. I love to read that stuff.

Any other years available?

I would love to get a consumer report of dishwashers of the late 60's, early 70's.

thanks.
