Just finished installing this beauty I scored on CL for $70. Works like a champ!

Great score!  Just like the one our neighbors had when I was a kid.  I was jealous of that machine.  We had to lowest of the low end Montgomery Ward (Frigidaire) portable toploaders with a single cycle.

Beautiful

Amazing how these well built machines are still running almost 50 years later.

What a great find!

This is a great dishwasher.  Such a timeless beauty.

Are you the soap cups working well?

Enjoy your new Kitchenaid!

I love mine.

Last night I ran the Utensil and Utility cycle just for fun.  I love the way the timer advances on this cycle and on the Rinse and Hold cycle.  I love hearing that clicking.

Re: the soap cup, it locks closed, but didn't open during cycle. I assume it's supposed to be open at end of cycle. It has a little soap basket added on the top rack. Any suggestions on how to repair?

I'm fairly sure the detergent dispenser has been discussed here in the past.  The "Super Searchalator" on the forum index page might lead you to a thread or two on this topic.  Type in some key words and see what happens.

Does anyone know where one can a replacement door seal for the 15 series? I have a KDI15 and the seal looks to be pretty chewed up.

That KDS is stunning; my KDI required a bit of elbow grease and still doesn't look as good. :)

Part 4160249

This is the one I put on my KDS-15.  It worked perfectly.  A pain to put on but worked like a charm.  I paid $40 for mine so this $45 seems reasonable.  Says new in the package so you can't beat that.

Awesome! A lot of sites still claim to have the old part # in stock; I tried 3 different sites and each came back with Sorry-NLA.

If you are interested in parts

I may have a few. Send me an email if anyone is interested and I will look and see what I have. I saved the door off of my KDS-15 before it was scrapped.

Did you keep the control panel on your machine, by any chance? If you did, is it the same pinkish color as the photo at the top of this thread?

I'm looking for the control panel in pink. My KDS-55 (a portable/convertible version of the KDS-15) has the later Ye Olde Fayke Woode Graine panel, and I'd love to find a pink panel.

Ron:

I hope you know how lucky you are to find a 15 in such pristine cosmetic condition! Hang in there on the detergent dispenser; there are several people here who may be able to help. That beauty is well, well, WELL worth saving.
