I had been talking with this guy for a few days. When he found out I was from Pittsburgh, he hasn't returned any emails or phone calls (maybe he's a disgruntled Colts fan?). I was trying to find out the model number before I travelled 5-6 hours. But since I can't get it, somebody else in Applianceville should. Just please don't let me know if it is model WEG! Here's the ad:

FREE... FREE... FREE... You pick up.

I have an old Fridgidaire washer model 1-18 (yellow) that is being put out for heavy trash PU Tues eve. 4/4/06.

It was removed from a basement on condition of a home sale.
I had to spin cycle it to remove standing water and it appeared to at least work on that cycle. It looks like it just needs some clean up.
It was removed from an older home home almost vertical stairs from basement. This was the heaviest washer I've ever dealt with.
YOURS FREE!!!!! It's in the back of my P.U. truck . I live on the NE side of Indianapolis by Fort Harrison.
Give me a call or leave a message ASAP.

Mike

Made contact w/ Mike...I'll drive down in the AM. He says it has some rust on the bottom, he said about 3/4" otherwise, he said it isn't in bad shape.
He said I have till the afternoon...the to the dump it goes!! Can't have that ! ! !

Apparently it was owned by an elderly couple. Once I get him home, I'll let ya know what it's like..

got the 1-18 home ! !

Not a bad machine at all!!!! Small amount of rust on the lower left corner, none on the base. Filled it up, ran like a champ! ! ! Spun out great, no strange noises. I think it will clean up quite well. Anxious to clean him up and run a load thru, work up some suds :>
They did put a deep scratch on the front moving it out of the basement, maybe I'll have that painted.
Thanks TrainGuy for the heads-up ! !

Maytagluver, I am laughing my a-- off right now! My grandmother used to polish EVERYTHING with Jubilee by Johnson wax! She may have even used it on my grandfather. I haven't seen it or heard about it in years. Another sad bygone. Thanks for letting me remember and laugh.

Jubilee wax

I was stomping through websites the other day after spending a day waxing floors using Trewax and the good old '62 GE polisher.
Found out that you can special order Jubilee from Johnson Bros. still! I will always remember the creamy marshmallow texture and the smell! Couldn't help ordering a bottle or two. I can remember throwing some away about 8 years ago...

Luxflairguy,
I would love to know where I can order Jubilee! My Maytags could use a good polishing. I bet it still doesn't come in the clear glass bottles. I can still smell it after all these years. Can you share how you ordered it?

Jubilee comes in a clear plastic bottle as it was stocked as a shelf item when I worked at Payless-Kroger

'Final Detail'

gadgetgary's profile picture
The other thing that works well is a 'purple' liquid car wax called 'Final Detail'. This product is used on all types of vehicles from the 'budget' priced ones, to the most expensive luxury vehicle. I have used this wax to do my countertops. appliances, tile and even the fiberglass shower stall. I have aslo used it to shine the 'chrome' on my Vintage coffeemaker collectiion. Of course, I bought mine on QVC origially, but I found it last year at 'Job Lot'. I have included a link below so that you can see what I am talking about.

Very cool machine Al; glad you saved it!! Frigidaire had such a great-looking Harvest Gold! What model is it? At first glance I thought it was a WC like mine, but your water level control looks different (mine lacks the Jetcone diagram). I find it interesting that yours also appears to have a real Jet-Flow lint filter as well, instead of the usual bed-of-nails.

Inquiring minds want to know...;-)

It says here...

The tag states it is a WTB...ser 81ED3139...not sure if that would help to date this machine or not...

again...lotsa fun...to think it was headed to the dump....glad I made it in time ! ! !
