Well the end is near for my dads washer and dryer. They are both being replaced with new machines which arrive tomorrow.

The dryer doesn't heat properly anymore and is extremely loud and the washer has shot bearings. But they have done good service and are 10 and 8 years old respectively.

Will miss these machines. :(

Oops! Somehow this has ended up in the wrong section! Sorry. Can it be moved into the Deluxe section please?

Thanks

By the time my parents GE Filter Flo finally died of corrosion it was approximately 31 years old. The GE dryer that came with it is now 33 and still going. It's kind of sad to see how successfully the various appliance manufactures have lowered expectations.

31 years is impressive! But for budget machines which were both less than £200 each. You can't complain.

That's certainly a fair point. When adjusted for inflation my parents old GE's cost far more than that.
