Service functions

Hi there!

Are you referring to the mode the machine goes into if you hold down certain buttons? I've only managed to get into what's known as the 'Config Menu' (no idea what this is) on my Miele W562 (Prestige Plus 6).

I think this is also known as the 'Technician Support Cycle/TSC'.

All the best,

Brandon.

Well, you probably have no luck. These are not anywhere on the internet. And a service technican will never give you them as they can litteraly loose their job if they do so.
And without, you can't do anything without the risk of rendering your machine unusable. And in some cases, you will need a new control board.
So BETTER DO NOT EVEN TRY without a manual. And getting these is hard.
Haveing sad that, acessing is quite simple.
The service cycle is the cycle where you can read out the run-time of the washer and use certain functions independent. You enter it by turning of the machine and closing the door. Turn the cycle selector to the 12 o'clock position. Hold the start button and switch the machine on. The green light beside thee start button will flash rapidly and than stop. Now while the light is turned off press the start button rapidly 3 times and hold it after the 3rd time (so press-press-press and hold). Now the tricky part: if you did it right, the light will flash twice after you held the button for a few seconds. When the first flash occurs, release the start button. If you are to slow, the End-light will come on and you have to repeat everything again.
If you did it right, the start-button will flash in a certain on-off sequence.
You only want to use the first 3 cycles from the 12 o'clock position. One (I think the 95° cycle, so the first) will display "H" and than the time in hours the machine has run.
One (I think the second) will display P and 0. With the start-button, you can skip on programm on. These activate certain things in the washer. NEVER USE THEM WITH LAUNDRY! This could potentially kill you and the machine, and we don't want to hurt either. In the spin programm, there will be no OOB control. You will see the spin-selector set to no spin. You can change the spin speed with the selection button.
The last position (I think the 3rd) will display the last 20 fault codes. You can scroll them by pressing start.
Again you use these options on your own risk. I advice you to rather not do it.
There is a codeing menue as well which would allow you to reconfigure the PCB, but I can't navigate you through it so I won't tell you how to enter this mode.

From what one has read elsewhere (Gardenweb's laundry forum mostly) Miele is becoming *VERY* strict with allowing customers access to service programming. Case in point previously it was rather easy to enter special modes on the Miele 3037 series. The replacement model not only seems not to have such functions but calls to technical support elicit comments that it does not exist.

One can only assume Miele became somehow fed up with customers going where they shouldn't and then requiring assistance to get things back to where they ought.

Of course one has said for ages the mind set of Miele has long been typical Prussian stubbornness. Nothing is ever wrong with their products, but rather *YOU* aren't well informed enough to use the thing properly.

Does the machine in question have a control board EDPL162-B?

would I be able to access the service cycle on my Miele W562 the same way?

and also, do you just switch the machine off to return it to normal use?

thanks, Brandon.

For the english folks: I once was on a German forum when I was way younger, and I may have missbehaved a bit. But that was at the beginning of my time on the internet.
