Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a used miele washer novotronic W1986 and dryer Novotronic T1576 that I found through your site. I went looked at them, and I found out that the washer is leaking water out of the right front corner. Also I noticed that the dryer is full of lint behind the heating grate at the back of the dryer. Also I haven't moved them yet because I am missing the shipping struts and Im trying to avoid paying Miele the outrageous amount they are asking for them. Can anyone give me some advise on how to fix these problems?

Thanks

The Machines still look rather good. I take it that it is standing on some sort of pedestal setup?

I do have some Miele shipping struts, but alas I am in South Africa. But if you move the washer carefully I don't think you will have any issues.

Just be carefull the washer is extremely heavy, so better to have a few extra hands when moving it, try keeping it level and you won't have a problem.

They are very good machines and you will enjoy them very much once they are up and running.

Keep us posted and do post some pics.

Cheers buddy.

The washer and dryer are both sitting on a pedestal which is actually where the rust is coming from. I ordered the $100 transport struts from Miele and I should have it all moved by next week with more pictures to come.

I have a 1986 purchased in 2003 and I love it.  The only thing that has been fixed was the cold water fill valves that corroded.  I am wondering about the leak on the right side.  All of the water 'business" seems to be done on the left side where the detergent drawer is so I would take a good look at the drum boot to make sure it does not have any holes in it.  Even if it does, if the machine will run it is worth paying to have the boot fixed.

Some things about this machine:

The standard 41 minute wash and two rinses, or 49 minute wash and three rinses will clean most everyday  cottons loads. Other cycles have different times but all will be less time than the cottons cycle.

If you wash a smaller load the machine will reduce the time of the wash and still clean well.

If it cannot perform the spin after the wash after failing to balance the load(rarely happens) it will automatically add an additional rinse.

There are times when it will go immediately into the spin without balancing the load...it knows when it can do this and when it cannot.

If you use a wash temp over 120F it may still fill with some cold water at the beginning of the wash

When you use a temperature of 190F you will hear the water getting ready to boil sound during the tumbling pause..this is normal.

The heavy soil option is a prewash that usually lasts about 15 minutes.  It is a cold fill.  The water will be gradually heated to around 105f before it ends.  The water will drain, there is a slight spin and the cycle will continue with the wash.

The extended option will give you a longer European type wash...every part of the cycle is longer. The time will still be reduced somewhat for smaller loads.

The motor has brushes so you will hear the jet plane sound during spins. You quickly get used to it.

Fine rinse is two deep fill rinses followed by a spin at whatever speed you set.  Water is taken through the fabric softener dispenser for the last rinse.

If you use a cold wash the heater will come on to keep the temperature at least 65F.

This machine can be programmed. The instructions are not in the users manual.  I think I have the instructions so if you need them send me a note and I will send them to you  in a PDF.

This machine is the best washer I have ever had so I hope you get yours fixed and enjoy the fast, great cleaning it can provide.

Thanks for the information Jerrod. I would like to get the programming instructions if you can send them. Also the water valve was replaced January of this year.

Thanks

Does anyone have any information as to how to remove the front of the washer? I have seen several youtube videos where different models just open up exposing the insides. I would like to open it up and try to find the leak. I called the nearest Miele authorized repair center and they are over 300 miles away. They wanted $500 just to come out for a service call or told me to bring it to the New Orleans area and find someone that will let me hook it up at their home so they can come service it?!?!?!?!?!

This range is one of the most easy to service as it got the hinged front.
You'll see some massive bolts around the door opening. Remove these. Remove the detergent drawer. Around the opening, you'll see several screws. Remove these. Open the pump cover. There should be a little black rubber pipe on the left with a plastic end piece clipped to the pump cover you just opend. Unclip it. Now the whole front should swing open to the right (aka the front shoud be right hinged).
If this is not the case, there could be 2 more screws under a plastic cover cap on either side of the control panel. Remove the caps and screws. Than try again.
You can but don't have to remove the top as well. I think it should be screwed to the back by several screws.
I hope I remember right as our machine from that line died 2 years ago.

And the wait rages on.......

Just an update on my Miele washer and dryer.....Last week I ordered the transport struts I need to move my machine. I must say that I am less than impressed with Miele customer service. The customer service agent wasn't very friendly and never followed through with sending my tracking number upon shipment. I requested and paid for 2-day expedited shipping and here we are a week later and still no struts at my door. I called today and told that my package was in "transit" Anyone else ever have these issues?

Customer service.    In the early 2000 most of the CSR were very knowledgeable and if they didn't have an answer they would consult with technical and call you back with the answer.

Now it all depends.  I talked with one that clearly didn't know what he was talking about. I knew more than he did about my problem.  Others were very helpful and followed up.  There was another time that was very very good and at the end of the call we talked a bit and I found out that my call had been transferred to a call center in Germany.  The guy at the other end was someone who had lived in NJ and was transferred there, so from that call center things were great.

I've bought many Miele products and when I call  and I don't get what I think I should have from them I  am not the nicest person they ever talked with.  If I don't like something I let them know and make them beg for my forgiveness.  That has helped in the past, so don't be afraid of the people on the telephone.

However I can be very nice, so it all depends on what they are doing or not doing for me at the time.

Just a little update on my machines. I finally got them installed this weekend after sitting in my media room for a few months. I am blown away by the performance. I am just waiting on the easy install kit to come in so I can fully install them.
