I was contacted about this machine after placing a Wanted ad for Simpson Fluid Drive machines in a country area of New South Wales....2.5 hours drive from where i live. It's been sitting in a paddock for about 3 years and from what the owner said...it's only problem was it was leaking water. I haven't yet decided if i will get it as i don't have the space so am considering letting Nathan (Brisnat81) have it.I date this machine about 1958-60 before the change in the control panel like the one Nathan and I already have.

Leon

Hi Keven,

As the machine can heat its own water, the "H" stands for Heat and i "think" the "M" stands for "Mains" (but i'm not entirely sure)

It will be saved Jetcone

Hi Jet,

Don't worry...this machine WILL be saved by either myself or Nathan. Your are right...it is too classic to let rot away and machines of this age are becoming very rare here in Oz.

The bowl is actually a solid porcelain.

Cheers
Leon

I thought this style would appeal to you Robert, it reminds me of your ABC and even your Maytag AMP.

Nothing like the all new Simpsomatic

to tackle that washday drudgery.
A very nice looking machine!

Fluid Drive

What does this stand for in the name of this machine?

Fluid Drive

Hi Shawn,

"Fluid Drive" means the method of transmitting the power to the spin cycle. It uses centrifugal force....sort of like an automatic transmission is how its been described to me.

Cool

Hi Leon,

That is a pretty neat looking machine :) I'll have to try and do some sweet talking, we brought home a non full facsia'd whirlpool last week and are now pretty tight for space.

I've aquired a fridgidaire semi auto recently thanks to leon, I just cant find the camera cable to upload pics, however to heat the water you would have to go through the same process as for this machine. (I assume)

Fill the tub to the correct level.
Set the machine to spin (There should be a method of sealing the drain hose)
Once the bowl is empty set the machine to heat
Once its heated you put the drain hose over the edge of bowl, set to agitate and the water refills the bowl.

Chestermike, the ones that Leon and I have, have glass control panels. They're all nicely hinged so that it cant fall and break.
