Hi,
I purchased a Maytag gas dryer DG412 , along with the matching A612 washer earlier this summer, from an original owner snowbird that used them in her condo from about May thru September. Single person VERY low use. The Maytag dryer, which replaced a KitchenKenPool design dryer, has worked okay for us, but I noticed a marked increase in drying time from the old dryer. I attributed that mainly to a longer dryer run than average. I took the run all apart and cleaned that when I got five minutes to do so. It wasnt bad, but there was gunk in there. I hope it's STILL not that. It's a rental, and I cant modify the house in any way to shorten it. It's maybe 25 ish feet from the dryer position to the outlet outside the house. Now, it wont shut off at ALL in any situation. Except in timed dry mode. It will RUN and RUN and RUN, and even when the clothes are finally dry, it SITLL doesnt shut off. Except in timed mode. To begin with, when we got the dryer, is that I noticed that NONE of the auto cycles ran at all. I did some looking on here, and it was made pretty clear that the dryer needed to be grounded properly, for correct operation for AUto Dry. And voila' they worked. But it still took longer to dry than what I had experienced previously. It still took forever to dry a load. like two hours. But my clothes were still drying, and it would shut off. Now it's taking longer, it seems to not get AS hot as it used to, and it dries so long that If I forget about it, it can run for three hours and never shut off. So I watched a cycle. Meduium sized load, workshirts/tees etc, Put in the dryer, set to AutoDRY Regular, third notch from LESS dry, push start. The dryer will run for abt, three ish minutes. I see the coil start to glow it ignites the flame when the burner kicks on, and then SNAP, it shuts down and tumbles with air for a long enough time without "re-ignition" to know something is up, also from what I've gathered, every time the burner kicks on, the timer is suppsed to advance a bit towards the conclusion of it shutting off automatically. NONE of that is happening. . I have looked at several parts sites, and I get the gas valve could be bad, the thermal switches, or the timer. I need you professional guys help!! I hope what Ive trie to explain isnt gibberishy. Much appreciated to any advice...... Chad |

Time for a gas valve coil rebuild kit. Not expensive, an easy to do. |
