My dream machine set

Its in my head. It does not exist yet and probably won't ever.
The washer combines some of the best technology ever thought of on a washing machine, and most of it exists or existed already. It is just a mash up of all my favorites, just a bit improved.
My dream dryer is just as well as good as it can get in my opinion. And it reverses by 2 minute intervalls. So 120/120.
Most important, both machines are supposed to be efficent in terms of design, quality, time and consumption.
I really got a good picture of them in my head. Probably, it will stay there for ever.
But maybe, one day...

Probably the new Bosch Logixx washing machine and dryer. I love them!

Although the Miele W1 series is growing on me....

Regarding the Miele W1 Series, I emailed them about the "Twin Dos" functionality.

Miele said that the 2-Phase detergents can be used, or the user can adjust the settings on the machine to dispense liquid detergent and fabric conditioner via those storage bottles, as an alternative option.

So, a very flexible machine. The Power Wash jet appeals to me.

My dream washer would be a Whirlpool/Lady K belt drive with the dual action agitator, but with a recirculating spray and a pretreat phase before the fill like the Cabrio and Fisher & Paykel TLs have, and a higher spin speed. All with the SolidState control panel, complete with the boop sounds and the off balance buzzer.

Either a Crosley front load pair with square windows or an Apex top loading washer with matching dryer.

Industrial SQ soft mount washer and gas dryer.

Washer with a 35# capacity and 5Kw heater. Programmable controller is of course a must. 45#capacity reversing dryer with programmable electronic controller.
If I'm going to dream about new machines they have to be commercial as 99% of the residential are SHIT!

Real world? I'm still with my first lust: A stacked Maytag Neptune pair.

Fantasy world? Like Henene4's, my 2 are in my head.

They're for those of us who're stuck with 120v and no vent. It's a condenser dryer with a Peltier-type dehumidifier going at the same time. Instead of hook-ups for cold water and drainage, there'd be one tank you could fill with an ice bath and a larger tank to catch all the drainage. There'd be 2 sizes: one to match the typical 24" combo and one to match LG's latest 4.3 cu. ft. combo.

Target market would be people who have a combo washer/dryer. You do a FULL load in your combo, take half of it out and put it into my fantasy dryer. The combo will stay hooked up and run its usual drying cycle only half full. When you're done you just unplug my fantasy dryer and roll it into a closet or corner somewhere.

Matching it would be a simple drying closet. Tall and narrow, it'd have lots of folding racks and be heated by a small, oil-filled electric radiator at the bottom. It'd have just one control (a timer) and a thermal cut-out to prevent overheating. Fold up the racks to hang a few shirts. Unfold the racks for socks, underwear, etc.

Is this the most efficient way to do laundry? Of course not. Of course it'd be slow, but it'd be way better than a combo alone or going to the laundromat. I've been in my new building just a month. I realize it's too early to commit to buy here when my lease is up, but so far I love it and the ONLY negative is the "no washer" rule. That is supposedly in the process of being revised, which is great :-)

I won't bore you all with the details, but I can't see either 240v OR venting as possibilities. Hence, my fantasy dryer.

Jim

I agree with Bob. 1958 Custom Imperial washer and dryer. It's hard to pick just one. Can I add late '50's - early '60's Speed Queen set? And a bigger laundry room to put them in. I don't want much. lol.

I'm very happy with my 2010 Frigidaire front-loader and it would continue to be my daily driver even if a 1958 Frigidaire Custom Imperial set magically appeared in the laundry room. I would cherish them like the fine gems they are. (Great minds etc., Bob!)

A bit of history: My dad worked for a company called Miller-Meteor in St. Paul, MN, from 1969-1972, a company that sold hearses and ambulances. We lived 150 away, but during the summer I'd go with him to work for a few weeks. A set identical to the one shown here was installed in the huge service garage to wash the endless loads of towels used to wash/polish the interior and exterior of the vehicles. I'd run load after load after load of towels. Best job ever!

The photo was Googled, but I believe this sparkling set belongs to webmaster Robert.

If I were to choose from the retro American world I'd love to have a pair of Frigidaire "Control Tower" from the late 50s in charcoal grey colour as I've seen on here, probably the most stilish American-style machines ever built.

European vintage? Just give me a classic Candy washer/dryer like I have and I'll be happy!

Finally if I were to choose from the current offering I'd get a pair of semi-professional ASKO machine with flexible programming.

An "all-in-1" washer/dryer

Or a 1950s-60s Frigidaire or Maytag washer & dryer
