I recently called an established appliance store about an AWN432 or AWN542 to replace my mom's Maytag Atlantis washer. I asked about the new electronic control models...the saleswoman told me that even though it appears similar to the 432, 542, center agitator and same tub, she said the electronic models do not operate like 432 and 542, but instead work with partial tub fills...does anyone on here have experience with those new electronic models?

Price does not seem too bad for the basic white finish.

When I bought my 542 last week I had another conversation with the salesman about the new SQ models and he said that with the Eco feature the new washers will use about 1/3rd less water than the current washers. From what he was saying it sounded like there are two sets of water levels, there are the eco levels and then there is what SQ considers to be the "Full" levels, which actually aren't really full but are the same levels that the current models are set to from the factory. He didn't think there was a way to manually add more water like you can with the "reset" feature on the current models.

I don't know how accurate what he said is, but what I took away from the conversation is that with the new electronic models you may not be able to get a true full tub of water. But, I guess we'll find out soon...

Yes, Leon, that video explained it very well.

If I was purchasing for myself electronic model would be tempting. Since it's for my mom I got the 542.

David, I agree..it didn't seem so at first but after a while I did find the dude to be quite hot!

Third rinse

According to the video, unless you select the normal-eco, you get full, or so-called full, tub fills for both wash and rinse. But to offer a third rinse? I imagine that option isn't available on the normal-eco.

Ok

There is a picture on the sq website that shows the machine with a full tub of water. Not the 80% fill on the 542 model.

The 2nd and 3rd rinse options are available on all cycles, even rinse and spin.

Sounds like the original posters saleswoman was attempting to scare you into purchasing an, I don't know, model she currently had in stock???

Heater anyone

Does that front load washer have an onboard heater?

On board heater

No it doesn't.  Apparently there's a new model designed for the European market that does have a heater, but it's not available in the U.S.  I presume it would need a 240V service.
