So you don't like your black appliances - no problem - paint them stainless!  I'm not sure what I think of the results, based on these photographs.  Might be interesting to see how these turned out in person.

Very interesting to see what the final product really looks like. The front of the stove doesn't look like it's painted properly?

Over time?

I wonder how a solution like this would last over time.  I supposed it depends on how they did the paint job.  Anyone know what this is:

Both of these appliances have been painted with the original Thomas' Liquid Stainless Steel paint.

It seems to me that someone went to a fair amount of work to make this happen.  If they removed the black components on the range, instead of simply masking them off, they were pretty particular.  Makes me think that the person who owns these might have an auto body shop?  Especially for an RCA range - weigh the time and effort against just discarding and buying something new.

my idea of bringing a stainless look into the kitchen….if I were adventurous, I'd just strip off the paint and call it a day. :-)

Or it may have been one of those appliance painting companies. They'll change the color of your appliance to anything you want. They use an epoxy paint that is high gloss and supposedly very durable and long lasting. We thought about doing this when we lived in the house with the avocado appliances. We thought the avocado was depressing in that house.

The company had a GE cooktop on display that they had painted navy blue. You wouldn't think it would look that good, but it was stunning.

my brother works for a place that is doing this sort of stuff, they were using appliances to test the equipment on, the bright white looks newer than new...

they did a great job on a fridge and metal cabinets...

but wonder how this works on porcelain ? ...

last I saw they were working on adding stripes and flames, and testing out the idea of shading....

could be a whole new market, and not just for autos

but...

Isn't it basically just paint? Would it hold up at all on the cook top of a stove? Wouldnt it scratch, or scorch around the burners, or darken?

If it is possible to paint a stovetop, and it be durable, then I have an avocado beast that is up for a color change. Maybe cherry red or cobalt blue.

The paint they use is a high temp epoxy paint. The company said it would withstand cooking temps, cleaning, etc without flaking or scratching.

GE had a "touchless" "Stainless Steel" refrigerator that wouldn't leave fingerprints on it if you touched it. But if you got real close to it, you'd discover that it wasn't stainless steel at all but a SS paint instead. But from across the room it did somewhat look like SS.
