I found a carcass of a Kitchen Aid Dishdrawer in the smashed and dent aisle at Lowes. It seems this dishwasher was special ordered and when it was delivered it was refused and then returned. Some where along the delivery and return the unit was either droped or the drawers slid out and were slammed back in and jammed shut. I made a ridiculous offer to the guy running the appliance dept and he took it. I got it home and after some tender trial and error I was able to get both drawers open. the plastic around the front of the drawers is chipped and cracked in a few places, but the tubs themselves look fine. I also properly took out each of the drawers and the wiring and hoses are all in place. In addition, the unit was returned with out any of the front panels. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to run the drawers without the front panel which contains the normal start and stop buttons and display. Is there some sort of service test box which would plug into the front of the drawer to replace electronics of the front panel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Variflex,
I can't help you in the new scratch and dent dishwasher dept., as I don't have a clue about the newer dishwashers. I feel bad that no one is offering any help. Surely someone in applianceville knows the answer to your question. This will bring your thread back to the top, and hopefully someone who knows something will offer to share.

I believe KA drawers are only in the "integrated" style which has a button-badge thingie that attaches into or onto the front panel. F&P drawers also come in a "prefinished" style that has the Power/Start/Lock buttons on the drawer handle, not on the front panel.

Anyway, the button-badge may be removable so it can be set into a custom-made wood panel. Is it missing? May not be a way to run the unit without it.
