quality :). Most customers that had/have those ovens absolutely love them. I do know of 1 club member that has either this model or one very close to it.

These came out in 1977 and were built in this size till around 2000 at which time TD came with an all digital controlled Micro-Thermal wall oven that was 30" wide.

The oven in the ad is one of the best ovens EVER made, you can forget even the great GE wall ovens once you have cooked in a Micro-Thermal oven.

The main advantages TD offered in these ovens over GE and ALL other wall ovens was.

1 These ovens vented outdoors with zero clearance 4" vent pipe just like a clothes dryer [ NO odor or smoke during the SC cycle and greatly reduced heat and odor during cooking ]

2 No messy oven door gaskets to get worn and stained.

3  BEST of all these TDs can cook with steady [ non pulsed ] Microwave power at either 3 or 5 different power levels, Alone, With bake heat or during broiling.

4 these ovens pre-heated quickly and when used with MW assist can cook some foods in anywhere from 1/3 to one  1/8 the normal cooking time, and best of all the results are often BETTER than cooking the slow way.

I would recommend one of these ovens to anyone who wants one of the best ovens ever built, PERIOD.

Hi Phil Thanks for posting these ovens, The Jenn-Air down-draft Electric cook-tops were actually very good good and versatile cooking appliances, I have enjoyed mine.

Hi Jim, interesting article on cooking appliances from 1988, I loved to comments about how they thought that halogen surface elements were so great, as it turned out they offered almost no advantage over regular smooth top electric elements [ and have ministerially disappeared from the market, LOL ].

The difference between the Advantium ovens [ which are still made ] and these full sized Micro-Thermal-[ and sometimes ] Convection ovens is the lack of interior size and most of all they are not Self-Cleaning. The GE Advantum and other Over-The -Range and counter-top Micro-Convection can do some really good fast cooking , But they quickly become a huge mess and a fire hazzard because of all the impossible grease filled areas, as a result few people use them much at their full potential.

By contrast in my TD wall oven I often warm up left overs without even covering them because if something pops and sprays food on the oven interior I will never have to clean it, as it will be burned away the next time the SC cycle is run.

Hi Phil, reading the cleaning instructions it was enough to convince me that my decision not to install a 240 volt Advantum in my kitchen was a good one, they lost me when it said CLEAN AFTER EACH USE, I would never have any oven that needed cleaning after each use, I happen to enjoy actually having friends and a life.

Hi SBJ the oven you posted in #10 is the double wall oven I have in my kitchen currently, this one is similar to the one that started this thread, but has the added advantage of a convection fan in the top oven as well as 700 watts of MW power and five MW power levels instead of three. When I did my kitchen originally I had the earlier one and overall the newer one does not offer that much advantage, but is still a great oven.

Hi Phil, thanks for posting the ad for the Thermador in post #14 in Winston-Salem, I called and unfortunately it was already sold, I was going to get it and install it in our W Va. home. This version of this great oven was the best looking one they ever built IMO.
