or they are counting on the buyer being stupid! Quote from the ad:
"They were bought new about 7 years ago and they are in excellent working condition. The set is white and trimmed in yellow. " Hello??? Not EVEN going to pretend that the knobs were originally white, but that was so long ago, well....

1994 models I believe. Years-wise I guess 21 is the new 7? Where do these people get their ideas? |

Everytime I see a thread where folk are moaning about, I mean er criticising the seller it does make me wonder if these machines were bought more recently than their manufacturing period i.e they were bought NIB from a shop that's maybe had them in for years. It can and does happen oh too easily.
We are too quick to create these kind of threads I think and wonder on the purpose they serve other than to instigate negativity. Ok people get things wrong. This last decade has gone way too quick and I sometimes have to remind myself this is 2015 not 2005 or 2010 etc etc. People slip up just the same. HALF of these ad's could be a genuine mistake and not meant to be misleading..... |

You are correct, the problem could be simple error; however, Craigslist has become notorious for falsehoods and scams. The anonymity offers security to those wishing to be less than honest. Nothing can be done about the seller and his/her intentions; its the unsuspecting buyer that I feel for. I suppose if the seller claimed the pair were maybe 15 years old I might be more inclined to believe the story you offered, but not his bold claim that they were purchased new 7 years ago.
I could be wrong, I don't deny that. But I am highly skeptical.
