Hi, I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher KDI-18 that I don't want to get rid of but the lower dish rack is rusting and needs replacing so I am looking for one and the door when opened goes to the floor so I am wondering how to correct that, would love any help with this, thanks

Door hinges and..

maybe more! Actually, the hinges on the door should have a flat area that stops the door from falling when the hinge contacts the right and left side of the tank flange.
If they are falling thru the tank, which it sounds like it is doing, then the actual bracket the hinge pivots on have probably worn out causing the door to drop down a bit and have to be replaced. They are probably not available at all thru Whirlpool but members on here should have them available. If not, let me know and I can check and see if we can still source them from Hobart. They are on the expensive side that way but if you have no choice, then you may have to go that route. Also once you know what is wrong, let me know and I can check my attic stock and see what I still have. I know I sent a complete set of hinges and supports to my friend last year but may still have what you need.

don't know where you are in NY...

but I have a complete KDI-18 in excellent condition, from an elderly couple who rarely used it, for $50. Located in Binghamton.
