Sometimes patience has its rewards. I always like this style of Miele products from the mid 1980s and I finally found one for the grand sum of 99p (that's about $1.50) and I was able to pick it up on my journey home so it was win win. There is a matching washing machine and drier so they remain on the want list.

It has wooden style, removable, decor panels on the front although they were not actually that good a match for the kitchen it was in - this dishwasher was a lot more upmarket than the kitchen it resided in for the last 30 years.

The large buttons in the middle of the control panel are for on/off and door release. Programmes are selected by the sliver buttons and the round dial on the right is a programme progress indicator.

The only draw back is that there is rusting on the dish racks, any ideas about what I might use for repair?

Al

Hi Al,
rusting on the racks is a real Miele disease!
I have repaired it on the Miele,I had with silicone,it worked for a while!
Have a Siemens for 4 years now and rusting is no more a problem for me!

These old electronic machines are amazing!Had been the first electronic series(dishwasher, washer, dryer)in Germany.
Have a nice sunday,

Thomas.

You can try sanding the rusted bare metal if it is present and mixing up two part epoxy and applying it to the bare metal. If it is the tips of the rack pins that are rusting, you can dab on the epoxy then push one of the pin tip covers down on it. The epoxy will cure under the pin tip cover but silicone needs air to cure so it won't cure under the pin tip cover like epoxy does.

The racks look strikingly similar to a modern day Miele dishwasher. Takes some measurements, then see what you can scrap a more modern, broken machine for. Or contact Miele directly about one of those machines.

Nice score...  Do you  have to push a program button and then set the dial to a particular program as well.. or just push a button and nothing else which would make the dial sort of redundant?

Rusting on Miele racks

I recently sold my 30 year old G 527 dishwasher and the racks had two little spots of rust on them!

Thanks to you all for the comments :)

Pete, the dial is a programme progress indicator, the programmes are set using the silver buttons. If I get a chance next weekend I will try and get a close up photo, there are quite a selection of programmes.

I was struck by how the racks looks similar to modern Miele too - my daily driver dishwasher is a 12 yr old Miele so I will give those a try and see how they work out. I am not planning to use this machine on a daily basis so I may just be able to stop the rusting getting any worse - its unsightly more than anything else

Hi al.

Glad that the collection appears to have gone OK. Looks very tidy and, as mentioned to you, a particular fave of mine from the Miele range.

Just kicking myself about that dryer. Oh well - will keep eyes peeled for the dryer and washer to complete the range.

Paul
p.s advert of the range, but the silver fascia versions ...

Well done Al on saving another classic Miele, these deep front fascias are from my favourite Miele Era. Would be great to see a classic line up of the Washer Dryer and Dishwasher.

Wouldnt mind betting you could find some replacement baskets from other machines....

They are beautiful....
Is yours in place? I would like to see pictures....
Mine has the original panels on.
There was a sticker on ( I removed it and saved it) that show you that
You could flip the panels and instead of white having them in a creamy color... Very 70s....

More Holy Grail

It was a couple of weeks after I started this thread that something else came up. This is the same colour style as the second one posted (if there had been no bids on that one I would probably have bought that one too), but I was not going to turn it away just because it was not a match for the dishwasher. Now .... to find the washing machine - white or brown (or both!) I don't mind.

Note the sensors on the door

Then a week after that

This beauty emerged. I think its is the model down from the dishwasher above in the thread. My initial thought was to get it for the baskets which are much better than in the push button machine. But I like the look of it too and it is also apparently in full working order. It was only £10 and just off my normal weekly commute so it was too good to resist - this is the ebay picture, I hopefully will get a chance to take some more shortly

great finds!

They look really good.. I have a suggestion for the rust but I don't know what its called, its like this little gun shaped thing that brushes the rust of, I will ask my dad the next time I see him.

I have the T355 dryear over a year now and it is amazing, the G562 was the dream of my life and I have it, both as good as new!!!

I thought I was the only one, I can see you heve the same as mine plus 1!!!!

You will love the dryer, it blows so much air throught the drum, it is much better than modern models, the temperature is very low, never ruins clothes... I always use programe 3 twice.

I wish you will enjoy them!!!!!!
