The freezer is working but the refrigerator doesn't cool....I know this may be a difficult (or obvious) question to answer but would this be an easier fix than most problems that usually plague vintage refrigerators? For the price, I feel like I should pick this up however i just don't want it to sit there in the garage. Thank you in advance....

But i also have the arduous task of convincing my family that these fridges aren't the energy hogs people claim they are...

Just show them

The rating plate, then show them the rating plate on a new fridge...2 or 3 amps compared to the new one at 6 to 8!!!

If the freezer holds the right temperature, as they say, but the refrigerator doesn't, it could have a restriction in the sealed system. Not an easy fix.

Those are such neat fridges... and very unusual to find in this large size. I hope that you get it... here, the power company will often pay $50 to take an old fridge (and then scrap it). This fridge looks to be in pretty good shape (the paint is way better than most Philcos of the era, and it has much of its interior intact, appearing to be missing only the butter door), even if you could not get this particular fridge working, there are lots of parts for the fridge that you would eventually get working! Those parts are worth way more than their $25 price!
