about 15 years ago I was living in a rented place and they bought a new Servis (sorry chestermike), it was an 800 spin pile of shite, it didn't have a 40o cottons wash on it, only a 50o the wash was useless, the rinsing was even worse, super low water levels still took hours to do a wash...........just a cheap nasty budget machine that in reality was a waste of space.
I have never had any trouble with dryers, well maybe my very first dryer was Hotpoint single direction one, bought it about 1980/1 it dried ok apart from sheets which would ball up but that's not suprising, but it was very very noisy. This post was last edited 04/26/2015 at 13:12 |

This counts as both...a Caple WDI2202 washer dryer. Was rubbish at both washing and drying. |

Worst washer I ever owned was an Indesit w123. After 12 months the times would just constantly advance then the motor died and it took ages to do a wash load.
Worst dryer was a servis electronic with the digital display. Took ages to dry and sometimes to get it to go you would have to lift the lid and give the drum a turn with my hand and most of the time I would knock the live wire and end up the other end of the kitchen |

Mine counts for both a washer and dryer, Indesit IWDC6125. Washed well, rinsed well, dried OK but lasted a mere 18 months before it almost caught fire (irony being it was being used as just a washer!) |

mine was a Amana Front loader from 2009. leaked from the front boot, had 3 repairs for the same exact problem in 10 months, replaced the front boot, and shook the house like a california earthquake during spin every time!(yes it was level) took it back to home depot and traded it for my LG wm2050, haven't had a problem since! I will never own a amana, horrible product!

What Servis model was that @ Electron1100? I knew someone who had a Quartz 'Spectrum' and that was quite good considering the abuse it got lol. They were very heavy handed with the buttons and door! |

Hotpoint WM61. Noisy, rattly machine that wouldn't stay in place, and self destructed within three years. Despite supposedly having out of balance protection, it still managed to put outward dents in its own cabinet, and sheared a suspension damper in half during a particularly violent spin. Absolutely crap at rinsing, and would get through a set of motor brushes at least once per year.
I know these were the last of the "classic" Hotpoints, and there is a certain nostalgia factor to be enjoyed from something that has changed relatively little over the years, but there comes a limit. Considering what the likes of Zanussi (for example) were offering around the same time at a similar price, the Hotpoint was downright crude in comparison. |

i had a Miele WT2670, easily the worst ive ever had, the programming was awful, the rinsing was awful, clothes never came out clean, and the dryer took about as long to dry 2.5kg as a normal dryer took to dry overloaded!!
as for the dryer, it has to be the philco dn500 i had, the tumble speed was too fast, the air flow was weak and it too ages to dry |

The worst I've actually owned is also strangely the best: a belt drive Kenmore. Important note, before the Kenmore fans come after me, ready to beat me repeatedly with a Roto-Swirl agitator, it was the "worst" by default--I have only owned one, maybe two washers, both BD Kenmores.
If only that machine were the worst I've ever used... [Lord Kenmore sighs an unhappy sigh.] The worst I've had to use in a rental arrangement is almost a cliché: early 1990s Frigidaire. No real reliability problems, except one needed a helping hand towards the end to get into spin. This surprises me, given the reputation of the WCI design. But neither machine did a very good job of washing clothes. I got by OK, mainly with a mix of care, plus the fact that most of my laundry needs are freshening, not dealing with horror loads. If I were the spouse of an auto mechanic, who insists getting work clothes as clean as possible, and insists that the Frigidaire will have to be the washer we use as long as it lasts, I'd probably have blown my brains out in a week. Worst dryer: ca. 1990 Hotpoint, which took forever to dry a load of clothes. Of course, it may have been some issue with aging in that dryer. |

Another 'not so great' washer is a c. 2008 & newer Wascomat Triple Loader because the hot water setting never works; but at least it does the job |

Neptune in 2005...wouldn't balance, dumped softener right on top of clothes, sprinkled the clothes with hardly any water, and it was just huge! Kept it 2 days and decided to return it to Lowes. Replaced the motor in my Asko and never looked back...and the Asko is still going with its 3rd motor in 18 years. Still cheaper than getting another hateful washer every 6 years or less. |
