I recently picked up a Whirlpool Cabrio off of craigslist for free that claimed to need a rotor- Got there to pick it up and the lady said she had ordered a new rotor because the old one was stripped out, the proceeded to show me the wash plate.. and said she had cancelled the order and decided to just buy a new washer. They had sent the part anyway, and she offered to sell it to me for what she had paid, $161. I declined and said I would find a good used one. She was just happy to have the washer gone. I got it home and unloaded, and found the wash plate had been removed but was in the tub, and the screws for the piece under the wash plate were missing, along with the cap for the wash plate. I reattached the wash plate and decided to plug it in and see what happened- Put it on a drain and spin, and the pump kicked on, then I started smelling a "burned electronic" smell. I unplugged it, and traced the smell to the main control board. Left it alone for a day or so, and did a little research, then went back to see if I could get it to throw a code- Tried the drain/spin again, pump started, tub started to ramp up to speed, then immediately stopped, and threw an F50. And burned electronic smell from the board again. I looked up F50 error code, and found that it could be the Rotor position sensor, but if that was bad, it wouldn't spin at all- I had it running and imagine it was up to about 500 rpm before it stopped. I also found that it may throw the F50 code if there is a fault with the board- obviously so, Since the board isn't meant to emit acrid smoke. The washer is a WTW7600XWO and is in excellent condition otherwise, so I'm going to try to find a board- I've found them on ebay for around $100. Need to do a few checks to make sure there isn't other problems, but I don't foresee any. Will have to also get the screws for under the wash plate and the washplate cap, but that should be about it. Anybody have an extra board they are wanting to sell or donate? I think it's going to replace the Frigidaire Gallery frontloader downstairs, as the pump is starting to sound really bad and the bearings are starting to get a little louder- but it has been used extensively since we bought it in 08, and I really didn't expect it to last this long, truthfully. Upstairs we are using a Kenmore DD, but I have the Duet sport to put back in placr once I get some new shocks for it.

I've got a Gallery from 10 years earlier, still works fine after regular/light use. But they may have "improved" them in the duration.
