Also she has my older '73 Kenmore TOL gas dryer - the one with the garage door over the controls. It's harvest gold, was running but one side of the cabinet is fairly rusty. Tossing it out here to see if there is any interest. I'm in mid Michigan. |

washer....about 1981-85......Belt Drive
Super Capacity, 2 speed, 4 cycle, 3 temps, Variable Water levels, most likely a Double Duty Surgilator, and a manual filter decent heavy duty machine.......yeah, its worth keeping, and with a change of the control panel, you can turn it into an 'Imperial'....with a few added features.... odd, you would always see a pre-wash added as 'Super Wash' on Whirlpools, but never an extra rinse......was there one ever offered compared to the counterpart Kenmore's? |

The mechanical timer versions never had a 2nd rinse option until after the DDs came out. Nick, I don't equate the electronic models in the same league as the mechanical timer models simply because Whirlpool NEVER did figure out how to offer a 2nd rinse and that was a huge mistake as far as I'm. And only offering it on the electronic versions was a cop out. One reason why I never considered WPs. It's right up there with center dial Maytags not offering a 2nd rinse either until the panel changes. After experiencing 2nd rinse option on the Kenmore 800 in high school and beyond, it's a feature I always demanded on any TLer I had. I'm not sure if the first version of DD WPs offered a model with 2nd rinse on it. If they did, it was very late 1980s. |

Isn't that Pre-Wash, granted there isn't a super wash equiv in the perm press cycle on the kenmore but I guess there was on the electronic control ones. |

Even though this washer doesnt have a selective 2nd rinse thats not a deal breaker for me. I just reset the timer to the rinse cycle and voila, a 2nd deep rinse is had. But the odd thing is that the Whirlpool DD washer I have in Maine has the 2nd rinse option, I never use it. I think it rinses fine with the deep rinse and two spin sprays in the final spin. This washer should have 4 spray rinses in the first spin, deep rinse and 4 sprays in the final spin. These washers in my opinion rinse fine the way they are without a 2nd deep rinse.

Grew up with this workhorse! My mother bought this washer in 1983, and as far as I know it's still chugging away. |
