Hi all,

As you may know I own a Miele W562 Prestige Plus 6, I brought it in January 2009 and it has so far served me 6 years of sterling service.

However, there is an issue which I cannot seem to resolve, all the Miele's I know make a famous 'chugging' sound with their pump when on a spin cycle, however my Miele fails to do this for some reason. I've had a look inside and cleaned out all the limescale I can, but even this doesn't work and it's something I'm beginning to miss on my machine and it really doesn't feel like a Miele anymore.

I am aware another member on this site (AquaCycle) owns the same machine, but his one seems to pump normally. Is this the time to replace my pump or is there another solution?
Please, I would appreciate all help, and I know it's not important, it's just I'm missing the sound it used to make when first delivered.

Thank you so much,
Brandon.

Just to add, I've so far ran it through 2 maintenance washes, 1 on every 9/10th of the month (one in April, one yesterday) on Cotton's 95ºc with Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar.

Does the pump remove the water?

Is the machine faulty or are you trying to get the machine to make the chugging sound?

it's the same thing with my Miele which will turn a decade old this October, yes the pump did make a chugging sound for the first few years but then it chugged less often around the time when it reached the age of yours, so it's nothing to worry about really, I guess that's what happens as they age, but it doesn't bother me when mine is running :)

Our Miele doesn't make much of a chugging sound, nor does my grandmothers which is similar to yours,
it must just be to do with them wearing in, I wouldn't worry too much

Pump

Hi, no the machine is fine with removing the water, it just doesn't make the chugging sound anymore, I'm thinking of replacing the pump soon so that might do it good.

It just makes a steady humming sound as if it's full of water when it isn't. It's had a large build-up of limescale which I removed.
I was trying to remove some limescale from the little hole on the right inside the filter, but I'm not sure how to. Maybe using some Calgon might help lol.

Thanks.

Tell me about the drain hose

It looks to be set up in a kitchen from the photo. Does it connect under a sink?
I wonder if the water cannot leave the drain hose fast enough to cause the chugging sound or if the non-return vent valve (and hose) may be gummed up.

drain hose

Hi Rich,

yes my Miele is set up in a kitchen, the drain hose connects to a spigot in the cupboard to the left of the machine, the hose goes up at the top behind the machine, I believe this maybe could be the cause,

I will see what I can do to adjust it.

thanks.

Brandon.
