Hi all, second post. Just when I thought I've cover the whole internet, I find one more forum. Will the search ever end? No.

Any way, I've had a really nice Electrolux FL washer for the last 12 years. A couple of weeks back the spider broke. I tore the machine apart, as to fix it. When I found the issue, and checked on the cost of a new spider, I was a little shocked at the $300.+ price. While searching for the Electrolux spider, I was finding many LG spiders at a cost of $65~$125. new. I thought it was nice to find a company that was not gouging for parts(at least not the spider). So I found a dented LG 3170 for $525. So far I'm very pleased with the LG. It's a little touchy with load balance, but if I just ignore it, it does eventually finish the wash.

My old machine did not care about balance, as it just powered thru, while using about 25~30 gallons(also a FL)in 25 minutes time. The LG uses about 10 gallons for a full load and takes 1.5 hours. The laundry comes out a bit cleaner with the LG, but I've also changed to He type detergent, and using less of it(as the LG is more sensitive to over soaping).

Benny,

I know you like your LG and are glad you got it at such a reasonable price. There is a quick cycle on it I use for daily clothes, not work clothes or workout clothes. Those get full throttle. About an hour. I don't have issues with long cycles, some folks do. My Askos take up to three hours but have seven full rinses. If you are interested, your washer water level can be increased by turning the Phillips screw on top of the pressure switch under the top. Remove the top, turn the screw clockwise one full turn then set the washer for rinse and spin to see how high that goes. If that's ok,replace the top and enjoy watching the suds and waves of water slapdash all over the window as it washes and rinses.

Splashes, not slapdash.

Thanks for the reply! The water level looks good from the start. During a wash, when the drum pauses, the water raises to the edge of the drum. Any higher and I could not open the door, without a spill.

I mis the simplicity of the Eletrolux(Kenmore 417.420). And sort of wish I should have fix it.

I like the LG, but I've read a few horror stories about costly repairs. I ran the old washer for 12 years. Once the spider broke, I wade the cost of repair, and decided to go for a new machine(at about $250. more than the cost of repair)

The LG was a floor model with a scratch, from Best Buy. A may still go back and drop another $105. for the 5 year warranty, what do you think?
