Hi guys and girls,

I found this video on You tube, of 1992 Miele dishwasher, with a plastic, transparent door. Amazing water action.

I wonder how it compares to today's dishwashers. The jets are very specific. Unlike a D&M machine, let's say.

How would it compare to a Maytag reverse-rack?

I've never seen a Miele spray like that before. While it is not "Hurricane in a box" action it seems quite effective. Miele definitely targeted the spray where it needed to be. I would imagine this DW produced very clean dishes. Does snyone know if this filled with hot water or is it cold only?

Cold only and according the brochure a 220V/50Hz 16Amps connection, a regular one in most continental European countries.

I like that the middle spray arm seems to spray as much downward and upward. And there is an almost full size spray arm on top. It seems like a very effective spraying pattern all around the tub.

I had a G885 1996 model for the USA and it had the same racks and spray arms.  It took about 70 minutes for an entire 150F regular wash, or 52 minutes for a 130F wash.  It was using a heated fill.

Basically you can connect your Miele dishwasher to cold/hot water tap. In Europe they recommended to use cold tap water, but there is an option for hot water if you prefer, but washing results may change(increasing). I think since the energy in Europe is really valuable and of course expensive, it seems more efficient to heat the precise amount of water inside the dishwasher using electricity, than heating several gallons of water, store that then transfer it to machines, obviously it's less efficient.
Any way it's common way in the United States, we pay less for energy than Europe and less attention( of course we care, maybe lass than Europe. It's not free at all)
So US Miele recommends hot water supply, it faster, it's less expensive (even better if you have gas water heater).
that was my opinion.

I Prefer Hot Fill

 Especially if the means of heating are more efficient than a traditional electric-resistance heater!

For example, Solar, Gas, Heatpump, Geothermal are several that spring to mind.

Long pipe runs negate this, but if the run is short, and you can purge the line (and use the water elsewhere, i.e. pot plants, garden, thirst-quenching), its well worth the saving. At least $18 a year, by my calculation (and guaranteed wash/rinse temps on our Dishwasher).

The review I posted was rather scathing, but I think the problem largely stemmed from the cheap "Sun" detergent being used in very hard water conditions, instead of something like Finish or Fairy.

In any case, that was the wash system the Miele in my article used. It certainly sounded like it "meant business," for a reasonably modern dishwasher.
