Another treasure?

I wonder what is in that Kenmore box next to it?  That's an interesting looking frig.  I don't think I've ever seen one like that.

What's the well-worn adage? "If this were closer..."

This was a very Limited Edition in 1986. I remember this in the store along with Kenmore's Kitchen Mate refrigerators with counter depth sizing and panel-framed doors.

What a full featured appliance - check out the so-so picture I snapped from the 1986 F&W catalog.

That does looks like a KM washer box - if from the same time it would likely be a direct drive.

Here is the text of the catalog listing. Built in step stool - who couldn't love a fridge like that??

Electric use is probably just crazy, but I wouldn't care.

Four Hundred (price listed on CL advert)

Does not seem asking too much for a NIB fridge of this vintage. If the thing is indeed "new", otherwise untouched and in running condition it will out perform and last anything sold today of same cost. Energy usage wise it probably consumes a tad more but what are we speaking about with average USA rates? Ten or so dollars a year difference?

I'm with Gansky, the oft phrase "...too far" applies.

Considering the size and weight and "NIB" condition the only people I'd trust to shift this thing out of state would be C&F. They would easily charge two or more times the cost but at least you stand excellent odds of it arriving safe and sound.

Wow! $2,600 was major bank back in the mid 1980s. A very cool, interesting refrigerator at a bargain price. Someone snap it up! That beauty deserves to live in an AW home.

Price must have been dropped....it's currently going for $400.

When I posted the price was $500. They couldn't convince Olivia de Havilland that she was crazy in 1948's "The Snake Pit" so I'm not off my rocker either. $400 seems like a good deal for that fridge.

No one is saying any such thing!

Now we'd like to know a little more about you for our files, we want you to learn to help yourself. Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes. Please stroll around the grounds until you feel at home....

However if Mr. TT Dexter doesn't want to take his medication orally, I'm sure we can arrange that he can have it some other way. But I don't think that he would like it.

Miss Launderess,

Of course I was just being humorous, but at my advanced age I do worry about my rapidly deteriorating memory. It's not comforting to occasionally need to look up your own telephone number. I emailed the seller that catalog page of the refrigerator and he was most grateful.

poor Olivia, she couldn't remember her phone number either...

Looks to have been sold

kenmoreguy64's profile picture
The fridge ad has been taken down. I too noticed the other appliance box next to the fridge, and searched the Sacramento c/l ads for other "vintage Kenmore" ads. A black Limited Edition belt drive washer and 29" dryer pair, still in box were advertised in a separate ad for $200 each.

They surprisingly lasted five days for sale. I considered going after these but need to reduce right now, not add to my collection.

I hope someone here got them!!!

Gordon

John found one of these behind an appliance store maybe 20-25 years ago. I think it was made in Japan and I don't think parts were available for it even then which was probably why it was discarded. It looked great, but at that point it was a very bulky insulated storage cabinet.

Thanks for the reminder Laundress!!

I cant't believe that it's been four years since my almond machine arrived. It would be great if John got these. I owe him a call so maybe I will find out if he did!
