These are great shots guys! Did you notice the Maytags were never as rusty as the rest? That all-porcelain Frigidaire refrigerator is a testament to "built-to-last" engineering.

I agree, what a great place. As a lifelong junkyard explorer, these places are getting rarer and rarer to find. Hope you get lots of good finds out of here.

The junkyards of dreams

rickr's profile picture
I think it's great that a few of these old junkyards have been uncovered this Spring.Special thanks to Kenny for finding this wonderful place, and contacting the owner!
This place is a time warp from the past century. There is so much stuff here, that it is very hard to see it all. We spent about 3 hours there yesterday, and I still feel as though I must look further.
So far I only want two of the washers that are there. They are both Norges from the 1950's. I think (hope) with two,I might be able to make one good one. If they are gone too far, they will be salvaged for spare parts for Roberts 56 Norge.
Did not see any Frigidaires from the 1950's or 1960's,other than the 1955 Filtrator dryer, and the 1966 "flowing heat" model.Kenny did find a 1970's 1-18 and matching dryer though. Still holding out hope that I just have overlooked a 1950's,or very early 1960's Frigidaire, as I REALLY just have to have one! (:
Hope to go back this month and get the Norges, and have another look around. There are some wonderful machines here, but mostly Maytag,Kenmore/WP,Westinghouse.

Had a great time! Most of these machines are parts only,or very ambitious rebuilds. But the cars are pretty much untouched, when it comes to trim pieces, etc.
And the piles of junk and stuff are unbelievable! There's an old house on the property, with a path behind it.The stuff is piled so high,it's like walking in a tunnel.

Rick, don't knock the Maytags. With Maytag as we knew it gone, I'm starting to think of those center-dial ones in a smimilar light as Frigidaires.

Hey Goatfarmer

In P#123980 is that a Montgomery Wards badged "Windsor"
dryer? Any possibility you could check the viability of the
timer on a return mission? Oh yeah, and the heat element too!
Of course I would offer cash in exchange!!

Wow, I'd love to have a better view of that Kenmore washer. The shape of the console would lead me to believe it's somewhere in the 1959-61 era. Was there a cycle dial? Lots of cool machines; thanks for posting the pics. That poor rusty Wards dryer was painful to look at!

It is fun to discover and explore places like this. I'm still working on mailings to find more places like this one. They're out there - we just have to find them before it's too late.

And there have to be more places like Robert and Greg found in Oklahoma. A true Frigidaire repairman would have kept some prizes. Didn't they have an exciting time? Thanks for the great pics and memories.

Kenny if you think for one minute I'd bring along the grouch for this trip, your crazy! I've got the truck and trailor, and steel toes ready to go hunting! Oh yeah, I'll bring the chainsaw too. Looks like we'll need one! Rick is absolutly the partner in crime on this one. Dean would just keep saying your NOT bringing that home. I need to bring the laptop too so I can send some instant pictures. You all know I'm a Frigidaire girl. A lot of other things I'm not real sharp on ,but everyone else here is. I would hate to miss something that someone really needs. Maybe we can turn it into a two day
project!
Wouldn't it be fun to camp out there?
Veg is coming in June maybe we could drag him along and see if he could hang with it!LOL

June might be too late,it would probably be overgrown by then. Also, the owner is 80YO,and time is NOT on his side,if ya know what I mean.I can't describe this house properly, you'll have to see it to believe it! I don't think I want to go inside, just for safety reasons. You go girlfriend!
Rick,I'm going to try to get down there tomorrow(Thursday) if I get off work reasonable, and see if the owner is around.

Beautiful old machines, and cars. I realize it's gone now, but at least you guys were able to save a few while you had the opportunity.  Love junkyarding myself and find it very therapeutic.  In fact, two of my cars were bought from jukyards.
