After months of haggling, finally got the '73 gold crown 1-18 dryer which matches the washer I picked up in December. Think they will look great together!

Congratulations!  Matched or almost matched sets are fun to have for sure!

Nice! I really like the control panels of the early 1970's Gold Crown models (before they switched to "Crown")

So did Frigidaire stop using the other names like "Custom Imperial, Custom Deluxe" etc. and just went to "Crown?" I have a couple of '74 1-18's that are just badged as "Crown." Just curious.

The Gold Crown models were rebadged as Crown when the control panels were redesigned around 1974.

The other models didn't show Deluxe/Custom Deluxe/Imperial/Custom Imperial but the model numbers still referred to these names until the mid-1970s (at that point, it became less clear for some models and there were two other "parallel" lines added in addition to the Crown, the "Custom" and WS models which featured different-looking control panels).

Many models had letters like WCD (Custom Deluxe), WI (Imperial), WCI (Custom Imperial)...
