I have an extra pair of good shocks, so it won't cost anything to replace...the question is are they accessible from the front or through the back?

Depends on who made it. The simple question is does it have a window in the door or not?

Drew....Jerry has a stacked setup......

can't recall exactly, but willing to bet you have to remove both front and rear panels for access, leaning more towards the front one....you may even have to tilt the machine as I think they are bolted from the bottom...

there was another member here who replaced struts from a banging machine, but that didn't seem to solve his problem....

let us know how you make out.....

I ment to change them during the wash in...but there were so many fun things to do!...it only bangs when there is a load...with no load its smooth and quiet...so I dont think the bearings and/or tub support is bad

It could be a spider starting to break, unless the knocking is really bad I would run it for a while longer and see if it gets worse.

You can change the struts from the back. I've done it in cramped rooms.
