Hello everyone! I've decided that since I rarely use my mobile maid dishwasher here in New York as compared to how much I used it in LA, I'd like to put it in storage and instead find a portable washer to put in its place in my kitchen. I'd prefer something vintage of course and I'd like a recirculating lint filter too. I used to have a nice kenmore set but I lost them in a move. Any leads would be appreciated.

Of course I'd like a GE, but Im not a fan of the impeller action, so a Kenmore or Whirlpool would be great!

Just putting it out there…. any east coast members wanna part with one? I'll buy it…

Matthew

Look On Craigslist & The Other Usual Sources

There are plenty of those Whirlpool/Kenmore portables being offered, often with their matching dryers. You'll also find GE "Spacemaker" units as well.

Sold mine (washer) on to another member but it came from New Jersey. Picked up the dryer years ago in Queens.

If you search from CT down through NJ am sure you'll find something. Those units were very popular for apartment/small home living in and around the City.

Here is one of the threads about my former WP unit.

Things started out so promising; but like that scrumptious tall cold glass of water at the end of the bar, things were very different under the bonnet.

Unit looked fine but the seals had gone and it leaked like a sieve. That is what one gets from purchasing a vintage washer sight unseen on fleaPay. Long and horrible story later the thing was finally fixed.

Despite some misgivings perhaps would have kept the unit if one had room to spare. But the new AEG set was arriving so something had to give.

My unit not only did spray rinses after the main wash but the rinse cycle as well.

Thats exactly what I want! Love the Surgilator in that machine! I keep my eyes peeled on Craigslist but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post in here too!

Thanks Laundress!

Great Little Machines!

Love them and have had several of them over the years.
And those "mini surgilators" were utterly awesome little agitators. They sure moved the clothes around.
Very gentle and yet absolutely thorough in cleaning and moving the clothes around the tub.
