These were going to the crusher for china…Im very upset all washers are being destroyed by china…start finding less and less…everyone wants new plastic washers which granted look cool but you find like queens they are not real…everyone seems to be content to just let progress destroy all that is worth keeping… I also picked up the dryer to match..My friend says they are strange color..I think green any body know the date i know 70 series 82something or other…oh by the way i gave a kenmore away last week to a disabled veteran…when you teach them on washers these guys with no legs and what seems nothing to live for they seem to enjoy the washers more than i do..

1983 model Kenmore 70

I think there is a thread in the Shopper's Square section where these machines were recently shown for sale?

This particular model was Kenmore's best seller in 1984-86. There were other similar models with five water levels and another with infinite levels, but this one was the sales volume leader.

Toast is a neat color, and rather unusual. This model went into production in early 1983 and remained available into the fall 1986. If you have a serial number for us, we can tell you the exact week of manufacture. Interestingly, the very first of these I ever saw was Avocado in color, and the most recent KM I know of in green.

The pic of the dryer in the other thread shows a white drum. That puts the dryer at a 1984 date or newer.

I hope you enjoy these!

Gordon
